All great minds are ahead of their time. Or maybe to become great you just need to think ahead of time? hmmm...?

Last week at was at a release party to review upcomming new material. I heard music from R Kelly, Alicea Keys and other artist that wont be released to the public until 2004! The point is...in the music industry, you have to always be a step ahead. Prince has always been a step ahead creatively, ecspecaily during his prime. Now he is thinking ahead to after his death! How will he be remembered? What will be the extent of his influence?

Will he be remembered only as a "Pop Icon?" A sexually charge Teen Idol? A genuis of contemporary music in the 21st century? Oh no...that is not good enough for a true artist. Yes much like Nepoleon and other world conquers, Prince is out to dominate and cotrol as much of the musical landscape as possible. Musical world domination and nothing less! Not owning a record conpany conglomerate or other peoples masters. No this is all about the music itself, and its influence on every genre.

Prince has already accomplished this in the fields of Funk, Pop, R&B and Rock. Which is why after the commercial success of Purple Rain he imediatly turn is attention to his true purpose and passion! Raw expression. Inventiveness! No bounderies. Thus ATWIAD, SOTT, and others. These records were never intended to be just commercial successes, but portals to other deminsions of popular music. Mind openers. Many producers wont tell you, but the concepts in alot of those albums have influence many of the songs and productions out currently.

So what is the next frontier? Why not the only true American artform..Jazz! Thus TRC and NEWS.

No Prince is not crazy or stupid. Just ahead of his time. His mind is not on what people are saying now, but on what they will say 100yrs from now and beyond. Do you have any idea what his body of work will look like of he continues at this pace? The Prince flag will be planted in every musical territiory on this planet. Dont forget Mozart died poor under appreciated. Prince is no where near in that bad of shape now. Something tells me in the futre he will be more popolar than he every was in his lifetime.

Musical domination, long term influence, and legacy, is what this is all about. As long as dosnt die young like "Alexander the Great," nothing is going to stop him.
