Aren't those stills in Gotta Broken Heart Again on the DVD pissing you off? Oh, and the easter eggs... I have watched the DVD six times and I like it in general but those bloody stills during Gotta Broken Heart Again are infuriating! This version is beautiful and I would like to see Prince singing or Maceo playing the sax, not still frames! Why did they put there slow motion footage of Maceo coming down the stairs if we all know it is from Rainbow Children? It doesn't make much sense. As my fellow Prince fan nicely put it: what the hell was he thinking when he went for such editing?
One more thing: go to the Everlasting Now bit, specifically to the point when during the latin part Eric Leeds starts to blow. Someone screwed up the editing badly. You can hear Eric's solo but he isn't even blowing the saxophone! It is noticable in the initial 2-3 seconds of the solo filmed from long distance. That's about it. If you notice anything else, please post . We Can Funk

Actually, I don't think they took footage from TRC for that. Whoever played the solo when Gotta Borken Heart was performed, always stood somewhere in the audience.
Also, Mayceo stops while he's still in the audience, during the opening he would have made his way to the stage. [This message was edited Wed Aug 27 3:24:21 PDT 2003 by calldapplwondery83]

Greg Boyer was there and Candy and Eric Leeds. But I think you're right, Candy played the solo on stage, iirc. But Maceo played it in Hamburg in the audience definitely.

You're absolutely right about Maceo's not being there but my point was thet the sax solo was played on stage and not in the audience. We Can Funk

Well - I like those stills ! It's not that we have not yet seen Maceo or Eric performing a solo, so we *know* what we are missing. They stills provide a nice variation to this.
Also, if Maceo *did* play from in the audience, it may have been difficult to record him on camera. In this case, these stills might be an elegant way of solving this. So, I don't agree with you that the stills are a reason to complain. But then again, I feel that the whole complaining thing is going nowhere, and mainly hurting ourselves, as it spoils our enjoyment. That is, unless you get more enjoyment out of complaining than out of experiencing Prince.

i agree. this is a cool dvd. camerawork is cool. art direction is alright. the band is on fire. the only thing i'm a bit disappointment in is the tracklist. i would've loved to hear 'the rainbow children'; too cool! and the songs 'the ride' and 'push & pull' don't do anything for me. that said, i'm happy with it. don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine
