1,2,3,4... U! I was listening to an old tape the other day and i found this really SUPERB version (remix?) of I Would Die 4!
It starts out with Prince screaming: 1,2,3,4... U! then a superfunky rhythm starts with a guitar lick on top and Prince saying: Wendy... Lisa... (sounds like a sample of the beginning of Computer Blue) and then there's all these conga rhythms, kinda afro/latin percussion before Prince shouts: SOOONG!... and then the melody kicks in, it's the whole song and again the percussion and a bassguitar solo. Anyone knows if this is the official 12inch? This version kicks major ass, really da sh*t! I have to find this on vinyl or cd

I haven't heard it in a long while, but your description sounds like the extended version to me, as officially released. Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

could this be the live version that MTV used to play
? Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

? The one with the white lace outfit? BET used to play that all the time; I loved that video. Remember how he shook that booty to the "chicka-chicka-chicka" part? Those were the days... The Normal Whores Club

He seemed to be having so much fun with the audience during that performance. Somebody screamed "I love you!" and he giggled, pointed and said, "I love you too, baby!" So cute. The Normal Whores Club

Hang On, Isn't this the one that Prince asked everyone to mail to him in Ohio? U know it was "official", but because it has a Warner Bros logo, it's NOT "official" Xperience the Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com/

I Would Die 4 U was both on a legitimate 12" (released as a normal single) and as the second track to the Erotic City CD5. I think it's the latter 'unauthorised' release that you need to send to Prince.Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

I love this version too. I've been listening to it a lot lately. Really showed the Revolution as a band.
I have the 12" vinyl somewhere, and an MP3. I haven't watched the video lately, but I remember there were slight differences. For example, on the 12", I don't think he actually says "Shela's Name", he just shouts out "accent!" and then Sheila plays a congo or timbale solo (she alternates each time). I remember on the video him screaming out "Sheila" or "Sheila E".
