You can use SmartRipper 2.41 & TMpegEnc to rip the audio from the DVD to a .wav file.

(Google will give you the downloads).

Then just use your fav. wav-->mp3 converter to convert the wav mp3 - or cut it up into separate tracks first then convert it - I use Sound Forge, but Cool Edit is just as good for cutting and pasting.

Question: Do you have to have several gigs of harddrive space to do this?

Anyone here who knows how to do this on a Mac? usually a lot of pc-software isn't workable for apple so I'm wondering about the possibilities of doing this on a G4.

Freaker

If you want to make a good quality CD out of it, save the files as .wav then copy to cd as .wav is better quality (although it takes up loads of room on ur hard disc)

What I do:
1. Use Smartripper to rip the individual .ac3 files for each chapter and number them
2. Use Headac3he to convert them to .wav files
3. Use Nero to burn the wavs
4. use CDex to rip the disc into mp3/ogg files
Personally . I think we are all Boring with No Lives cause all we do is talk about Prince,Criticize and Gossip. I need a Horny Man is what I Need and probably so do most of yas. We are Sexually Frustrated what we R... Amen..!!! - zelaire

If you have a Superdrive, you should be able to do it with the newest versions of iDVD and iTunes. I haven't tried it but I've heard that this should work.

Hi. Any chance you can give a quick idiot's guide to how to save .ac3 files in Smartripper, 'cos I can't figure it out.

Thanks!

Remember that if you burn 2X speed DVDs with an older Superdrive, you need to get a firmware update, or you really will burn down your Mac.
