I've been playing that show in my car this week. Great show and great sound quality.

Thanks for starting this thread - I realized just now, when I was writing the police log for yesterday. Pretty cool that the Aladdin show was shown last night and that he (apparently) played an instrumental show in LA last night, 15 years on...

Unlike when he played an aftershow on this date in 1998, it's pretty clear he hasn't lost it in the last 15 years. I'm glad I stuck with him through the messy years...

THis was the first show that leaked out in soundboard quality and is top notch.

Besides the fact that the sound is fingerlicking good, the songs preformed were special too; the first airings of Still Would Stand All Time, Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic (wild guitar rock out version) and the only airing ever for People Without, which has Prince grooving out on the keyboards.

It's actually the ONLY live recording that made it to one of my compilation MD's. Most bootlegs suck. Quality-wise.

Ok, for you people who don't have it yet, I will give you a taste:

Starts out with a very long instrumental. Kind of jazzy and funky. Very much like the One Night Alone stuff. Very imspired, with a bit of America mixed in. Lots of loud guitar and keyboards. Great Sheila drumming throughout. If you are quiet you can hear Sheila whispering to someone.

Then there is a kick ass version of DMSR. Quite different than the original. Almost like a new song.

Then he does the masterpiece. A version of the Temptations soul classic, Just My Imagination; but he does it as a rock song. With probably the best guitar solo ever done on record. Very uplifting version. Crank this puppy.

Then he plays a song he has yet to release; the odd, but great, People Without. Which starts as a rock song, then goes into an extended experimental piece, with Prince playing very odd things on synth. Crashing thunder noises, almost a Frank Zappa type vibe. The only time he ever got bizzare on an aftershow.

He does a decent version of Housequake, with drums crashing into your chest like thunder. Sheila kicks it.

Bonnie Boyer sings the Blues classic, Down Home Blues, and James Browns Cold sweat. These are great, but bring the concert to a low ebb. But neat to groove to.

He does the first ever version of Still Would Stand All Time. An almost Purple Rain type version with guitar. Different lyrics, and a funny vibe. Very long, with great guitar solo.

Bonnie does I'll Take You There, then Prince jumps in an works the crowd. Long jam.

Then he does another song he rarely ever played, the debut of Rave Unto The Joy Fantastic, but this version has different lyrics and is more a rock song, and jam version. Guitar solo is crushing. Prince was in guitar heaven on this album. Must have found some good extasy.

Then he ended it with Gonna Be A Beautiful Night, with horn outtro. and more wild guitar. Kick ass applause, then Prince dissapears, and history is made. Must listen.

Great summary of a great CD. This version of Rave blows the 1999 version out of the water.

Small Club are all my favorite shows ever by anyone. I can't say which one I like better 'cause I love 'em all.N past or current singer/musician could touch Prince as an artist/rock-god as when he was playing at these shows. Period!

Oh,wow excellent. I remember when I was like oh damn there he goes again played Rave it was Constant. I was like Damn there goes his favorite song. It used to make me Scream cause it was like something that wouldn't go away,but I did love the song the first time I heard it and damn well this cd is Fantastic.

I would almost agree with those who think the guitar solo in "Just my imagination" is the best ever.

Definitely my favorite prince solo ever, without a doubt. Either he saw god during this one, either he is god.

A must have for all Prince fans.If you doubt that if he lost it recently, get Nighttown-Rotterdam,11-03-02 another excellent Aftershow.He seems to play his best in these Scandinavian countries.
