Does anyone really think Prince has changed?

"His methods are different but his standards of being the lone wolf somewhere out in the wilderness, pursuing his career the way he wants outside of the status quo, living his life the way he wants (whether his whiniest fans like it or not), bespeaks the fact that he hasn't given up every aspect of his iconoclastic nature. Had that been the case, TRC wouldn't be nearly as controversial among his most ardent fans."

His methods haven't changed but his music is another story. Where as most Prince fans enjoy a lot of his previous work, many don't believe the quality of his newer music is as good. So, depending on your stance, he either hasn't changed or has gotten lazy.

You are using quotation marks with the above statement - what are you quoting this from?
Is this a statement from another web site?
Or some article on Prince?
Did you have to translate it?
Who is the author?
The source?
A date of publication?

Prince hasn't Changed at all just merely Matured. The music created now reflects where his mind and energy is focused. He has gone from a Rock n Roll Man to more of a Jazz Virtuoso and well the not singing goes with the Jazzman Feel. As far as the age well since Mani who is 24 and a Vanity lookalike is with him let's calculate he hasn't changed since 1982 and that would make him 24 also Right. Meaning as I believe him to Feel 24 and all. Vanity was the other side of Prince as she said his Mirror Reflection of Himself. Vanity cause a girl's best friend is her mirror but she said it came from Religious text. Well anyway since one is not talking with Prince one must Interpret. But once again the same ole Prince is in full Throttle. Badder than Ever.

True he Always had different Styles and it seems like different Period Pieces Almost. What was quite different last tours is the fact that Prince isn't dancing like he used to. Only thing I really miss is his Splits. They were Great.

telling audiences that they need 2 get checked if they like the old lyrics.....

I've said before that he hasn't changed, he's just matured. Something the majority of folks around here have no concept of.

But you know what's really funny though. They call us followers and other names, but if N.E.W.S. suddenly shot up the Billboard Top 100 chart and hit number 1, every last one of them would completely do a 180 and start claiming how fantastic it is. How ingenius Prince is, and any other bull they could manage to sling.

Fortunately for me I've never needed statistics to tell me how wonderful Prince is, had that been the case, I'd probably never known that. I discovered the joy Prince brings through his music by actually listening to it. It has always taken me by surprise and continues to do so to this very day. New direction and all. Which makes me love him all the more, because even with his new direction, JW lifestyle(which does bother me for my own reasons), and independence from the mainstream, he still manages to surprise and move me musically. A feat the majority of today's so-called chart toppers couldn't touch in several lifetimes.

How does becoming a Jehovah's Witness affect his ability as a musician? Is his guitar playing not as intense? Does he tend to play sour notes now? That's ignorant.

NPGMC get better seats because they join the club. Point blank. Get the hell out of here with that segregation shit. The only person who could be allowed to be bitter about not receiving recognition as a NPGMC member is rdhull. That brother needs a namecheck bad.

You have admitted once before that you didn't become a fan of Prince's until the Rave era. So in case you didn't know, Prince is the same man who has pretty much given the impression that love and sex hold are the keys to heaven. I don't recall anyone shouting segregation when Prince re-enacted a phony conversation with God onstage in 1984 and climbed his way into a smoky bathtub and gyrating his pelvis. The only person was probably offended by it Tipper Gore. Know your history. He has practically done everything but tell everyone they are hellbound if they don't believe in God for the past 25 years. Now that he appears to be a member of an organized religion his comments are alienating?

Anyone who paid for a ticket for a show has never been asked to leave because they worship Satan on the side. Psychobabble has been a part of Prince for years. There has never been an ultimatim to believe what he says or not.

Please stop with that JW/segregationist bullshit.

I don't think you can mature without changing. When you mature, you change both physically and mentally, which Prince certainly has.

ok u have completely mistaken what i said.

1st of all,if u have read any of my other posts on this site re; Prince's JW beliefs...
i am ALWAYS one of the first (& one of the very few) defending Prince.
i dont care what religion he is in2.

2ndly,the segregating at the shows may not be extreme,
but he makes a point of it.
ok so u 1/2 got me on one point (the 'u must believe in god' thing.)

But my WHOLE DAMN POINT in that last post of mine was that Muffy said:
"He hasn't Changed just the music has"

i was simply stating that it isnt only the music that has changed.

got it?

ps: i may have become a fan around the Rave era...
but the last 4 years have been spent studying his music & life as much as possible.i think i know about 1982 like i do 2002

I just have to say one last thing to the fans. Back in 1990 or 91 I went to a Minnesota Music Awards show and remember THE SOUNDS OF BLACKNESS? Well, Prince received an award and some guys with long white gowns kinda like what Larry was wearing at the Celebration and kinda like what Prince was wearing in Vegas went up to accept an award for Prince. They called him their Brother. Now this woman I was hanging out with and who lived in Minneapolis and knew I was digging on Prince said to me that he Couldn't be With Me well I truly BELIEVE he was with some Religious Organization even the Jehovah's way back but was still singing Sexually Explicit songs just because this is what Selled his Records. Now he no longer really Cares about that and so now although Prince has ALWAYS been Very Religious in nature well he is totally Concentrating On that and he is letting the music and not his words speak for him as his fans are interpreting and reading too much into the words and meanings.
