Whats up Fam,

I've been out of the loop a while.
Can anyone tell me about the high album?
If someone could list a few song titles and what year it was supposed to come out , that would be coool.

Thanks.

When the single was posted online with artwork, the artwork said U Make My Sun Shine was an edit - anyone else remember this?

Maybe there's a version longer than 5:55 (or whatever it is) that isn't circulating yet...

I can't recall the reference to the edit. I know that the video download was an edited version of the audio version which was made available for download and on CD singles (coupled variously with 'The Work Pt. 1' and 'When Will We B Paid?') The CD singles makes no reference to that version being an edit.

I understood Vavoom was also scheduled to be on the album.

It would have been a better album than Rave.

There are a few tracks I like from that era.

I agree, Romance1600, MUCH, MUCH better than Rave. Some silly stuff, but fun and funky just the some. Worth it for "Golden Parachute" alone in my opinion.

Actually, I'd STILL like to get my hands on a CD release of this. You'd think the club would make lots of money AND make lots of listeners happy just by pressing copies of this already compiled album...there's probably already cover art, and if not, let a fan make some. Some of y'all could tear shit up on the design side.

Pipe dream, I know. Anyway. It's just that I never even burned the mp3s in the supposed order, and they seem so disjointed...and, well, by golly, I do believe I'm getting nostalgic over what it was like to be a Prince fan in 2000/2001 and hear these songs for the first time. The world is old, and so am I.

The often reported 'official' tracklist for the High album is
actually false. This was a CDR compilation that Prince had
made of some current tracks so that DJ's could play some
of the new jams when Prince showed up at the clubs. It was
not the actual 'High' album. You'll notice that the tracks
really don't flow very well in that order, and it also includes
2 tracks, which at that point, had already been earmarked
as NPG songs (The Daisy Chain & Gamillah). A few of the
tracks also end/start abrupty, as if they should've segued
into another different track. The real tracklist for 'High' is not
known, though it was rumored to include 'Sex Me, Sex Me
Not' & 'Vavoom' (which may have been the opening track).

there was actually an extended version of UMMSS--I only heard it once--piped in over satellite...it's about a minute longer than the single version, and basically goes into like a gospel chouir type vamp--nothing extra special, but glad i got to hear it that one time

That's because it 'High' was never an officially released album. Only officially-released product is featured in The Vault section of NPGMC
