Are cover version licences different for video than CD?

Compare the ONA...Live set to the Aladdin DVD - all the covers were cut out of ONA...L, to the point where you can here a split second of Love Rollercoaster at the end of 1+1+1=3. ONA...L could have included the covers and still sounded wonderful. I'm surprised A Case Of U was cut out, for example. The DVD is packed with (great) cover versions, though.

Traditionally, Prince has always released videos with covers (including Dr. Feelgood, In The Mood, Honky Tonk Women, Baby Baby Baby, Red House etc.) while he's (or was) very selective about cover tunues that are released as audio tracks (Betcha By Golly Wow, When Will We B Paid? etc.).

Is there a fincancial reason for this? Does he not need to pay so much for video cover versions?
