My DVD Review Firstly, congratulations to the L.A. fans. I thought NY was going to get the live aftershow. Maybe Prince didn't want to take a chance with the power.
The DVD is great. It isn't the disaster some made it out to be. Sound quality isn't top notch, but it's fun watching Prince and fans having a good time. I could listen to that little Rainman play the guitar for hours. And Prince looks excellent. He's got to be the best looking white black man on the planet. Note to Michael Jackson: Prince was born with his look. You on the other hand used powerful chemicals and massive plastic surgery and ruined yours. Ha Ha I give the Aladdin DVD 7.5-8 stars out of 10. My only gripes are more songs and better sound. ________________________________________________

Well that was a very nice review. Balanced, unbiased, and great depth. I also think the one paragraph on MJ was very relevant in your three paragraph review.
So you didn't like the sound quality and the length, right? Thank God you're not like all the other haters complaining about the camera work and the image quality, cause u think those are great, mmm? Anyway, Cheers! "It's better 2 B hated 4 what U R than 2 B loved 4 what U R not."

i guess he's saying Prince always had the light skin colour like on the For You and Prince album covers and that it's not because of some skin disorder like MJ. "It's better 2 B hated 4 what U R than 2 B loved 4 what U R not."

michael Jackson: it's his life and his choice, and if i remember correctly, that is the one thing GoD gives us, and that's CHOICE!!! if he can look himself in the mirror and be fine, why accuse him instead of letting him use his choice. God gives us choice, and we humans try to take it away from one another. c'mon yall, hold on to your souls. comparisons are for those who live for tomorrow and not today, living for down the road, disrespecting the now road being occupied. how would u feel if someone, U DID NOT KNOW, was going around town talking down how you kept your house, and they NEVER BOTHERED TO KNOW WHAT WENT INTO MAKING IT??? I can prove that the devil exists, and i know it's name - CONVIENIENCE. So there. The aladin dvd was enjoyable, and it's was beautiful to see people, and even Prince, having fun.

Technically speaking, Live at the Alladin is CRAP!!
I just got done watching the DVD and couldn't have been more frustrated and disappointed during the viewing. Once again, the NPG has found away to screw things up. I put in the DVD and pressed play and could not believe how grainy and blurry and unclear the picture was. The close-ups were fuzzy and at times Prince was unrecognizable in the long shots. ( I have some bootleg VHS tapes that are clearer than this DVD). Also, the audio is only in "Dolby Digital". You know what that means? It means that what you are listening to is coming out of your left, right, and subwoofer speakers. That's it!!! I don't know about the rest of you, but I have a full home theater system and would have appreciated listening to the music in at least 5.1 Dolby Digital if not DTS. Compared to the Rave DVD, there is no comparison. Rave was crystal clear and recorded in DTS, and when I play the DVD, my whole house rocks! It is superior to this DVD in every way. Prince, how could you have screwed up such a gem like this DVD? The music was great, Sheila looked ageless, and you are still the greatest ever. I just expected much more than I got...but than again I've said that frequently about your music the past 8 or 9 years.

With all the complaints and the shortcomings, this DVD still leaves me feeling like I just left a real Prince gig. That is the objective of any live concert film so even without the razor sharp picture or the 5.1 sound, the disc has to be called a success. Prince is just too good to be stopped by such technicalities. If you sit and watch, you cant deny it.

I have sat and watched till I cant take it anymore. You and buttcheck clearly know NOTHING about dvd or quality.Anyone in their right mind hell even those with half a clue can see it for what it is.If I didnt just snap it in half I couldve pretended it was a music cd and watched it with tv off from now on but thats about it.

Just watched it and they're right about the video. It looks horrible. Although the disc isn't without merit, and is,in spots, quite good, the picture quality and camera work drag it down to level that's nearly unacceptable. If I wasn't already a fan and if I hadn't already been to 2 ONA shows, I'd watch this and wonder what all the fuss is about with Prince as a live act.
'1+1+1=3', 'Pass the Peas', and 'Whole Lotta Love' were highlights for me, and overall the musicianship and competence of Prince's band really shine, but it's true: the production quality of this DVD destroys any of the momentum it's able to build. I bought the 3-disc Led Zep a month ago and watched it on my computer at work - just like I did with this one tonight - and the difference is at times painful. For one thing, the Zeppelin DVD was plenty loud and the picture was crystal clear. The fucking thing was LONG - filled with all the Led Zep anyone could want - and when I watched it, it made me sad that I'll never see Zeppelin live, but satisfied that I at least got a worthwhile taste of the experience. With PLALV, I could NEVER get the sound up loud enough, which was often so weak I could barely hear it. The segues and the "lack of continutiy" didn't bug me like it seems to be bothering some, and I dug that he changed up the setlist from the 3CD set, but overall I can't shake the feeling - indeed the CERTAINTY - that he's capable of so much more. Frankly, I'm getting tired of this feeling, and wondering if he needs some help. Odd, but occasionally as i was watching this, I couldn't help but think of Kevin Smith's recollection of meeting Prince ('An evening with Kevin Smith'). No wonder he couldn't make the movie Prince wanted, and oh how wish he had. "Rave unto the Year 2000" and "Sign of the Times" have nothing to fear from this... B-

I think whats great about it is.. it has the ONA Tour feel of the Tour MIXED with the Aftershow jam sessions! Prince just calls out stuff and they jam.. like the old great Prince Aftershows..
very loose.. very nice!! Perfect Different Prince DVD ** I think the Best ONA Tour Concert was the NYC perfromance!! IF anyone bought that Bootleg you would know what I am talking about

My complaints have NOTHING to do with the performance, well cept concerts do have a beginning and an end.Wheres the intro ,wheres the end. What kinda crap is this.Well ok I take it back I gave one issue with the content I guess lol.
But my MAIN complaint is the audio and video quality. Its pathetic. Its downright criminal if you ask me.This is in NO WAY a dvd.Its a shitty ass VHS version pressed onto a disc.Im furious I paid 15 bucks for this.
