I don't buy his new stuff. Bootlegs of his old, unreleased stuff is what keeps me continually interested, as well as the old stuff he DID put out.

So naturally, I would love for Prince to release more Vault items, but following Crystal Ball and its weird tracking order and bad seguing and odd choice of songs, maybe it's better off in the Vault?
The soundquality on boots isn't always good, but occassionally it IS excellent, so... Boots'll do just as well as another Crystal Ball mish-mash.

His new stuff interests me for like 5 min, then it sits on my shelves collecting dust. Then I pick it up a few months later and really try to sink my teeth into it, and it bores me even more. By the time a year has passed, he's releasing another new CD, I get my hopes high that this time it will be something interesting, and the same thing happens all over again.

The bootlegs were interesting tracks, but Prince's has had a gazillion opportunities to release this stuff over the past 10 years, and he's passed. Right now, I've grown tired of these songs. They were interesting, but they're by no means the best thing out there. One by one, my bootleg CDs have gotten damaged or lost, and I have no desire to replace them.

I couldnt care less what prince has in his vault. What I dont see/hear cant hurt me, or delight me, plus he puts out enough new music 2 keep me entertained and satisfied. There R some of his "older" albums I havent even gotten around 2 playing, like Dirty Mind, Prince, For You, Friends 4 Sale, The Black Album, etc., as I am tooo busy playing stuff like: The Hits & B Sides, The Symbol Album, Come, Crystal Ball, Lovesexy, TRC, Xpectation, One Nite Alone, The Undertaker, One Nite Alone ( on tour-live ), Days of Wild/One More Jam, ( from canada/celebration 03 ) & MANY more...I WILL, however, listen 2 ALL these albums VERY SOON. Once I DO hear them, they usually become one of my fav's FAST & then I have even more 2 play. My feeling is also that THEY ( in his vault ) R HIS songs and thus it is up to HIM 2 release them or not, 2 the public, WHEN & IF he ever will! They may not be what he considers material he wants to release right now 4 many reasons...maybe they R subpar to him, maybe they R personal & therefore he wrote them 4 certain private situations/people in his life, maybe they need editing if they contain LOTS of stuff prince dont believe in singing at the present, and maybe he'll just release the music when he's ready, or maybe he wont ever B ready. But, honestly ppl, he DOES NOT owe ANYONE HIS writings & some of U act like he DOES! He does give out so much already. FORGET THE VAULT! Besides, no matter WHAT would emerge from the vault, some ppl would find fault with anyway. Not 2 B morbid, but those songs he has in the vault will be treasured sooo much more upon his passing from this earth someday. He will "LIVE" on through them. Theres a time & place 4 everything, & evidentally THIS ISNT HIS time 2 show the other "children" the "light" of day.
May the BELLS ring 4 U even when ur not in love. hug kisses

1st off, sometimes one feels like he has 2 B protected from fans that R more like vultures than fans...2nd, yes, its true muffy, prince is NOT immortal, and will die, like US ALL, no? This is reality here, not reality tv, however NO ONE, & ESPECIALLY I, would want ANYTHING 2 happen 2 him, but also reality is realizing these R HIS songs 2 do with as he wants. I think y'all already KNOW how much he considers HIS music HIS & no one elses! Unless u've been living under a rock lately!!!

well Well WELL!! Didn't you school us ALL? Self righteous attitudes like yours is what gives "Fams" a bad name. You act as if he's your best friend "In Real Life (TM)" and you have to pull out your sword to protect his best interests. Jesus H. Christ I hope you get over yourself someday.

Aside from that, the vault material is all I'm interested in anymore. If he doesn't release any of it himself, In A Store, because I refuse to align myself with a bunch of lunatics such as the NPG Music club, then I'll continue to collect bootlegs. End of story.
Keep your headphones on.

Of course I'm still interested in Vault material.
More importantly I want a new Prince cd every six months.
If its all instrumentals - no problem.
If its Live material - no problem.
If its a big commercial cd - no problem.
If its Vault material - no problem.
If its an off-the-cuff accoustic cd - no problem.
If its old NPGMC material - no problem.
I just want something every six months.
This is what I've waited around for since
the big blow-up with Warner Bros.
I want to depend on Prince for new product
every six months.
Since late 2001 he has done that.
Where ever he draws that music from is up to Prince.
Old or new.
Live or studio.
Overblown or stripped down.
I want to be able to hear Purple Sounds every six months.

Well perception being in the past that you got to hear something that was in the Vault via copied cassette back in the day left everyone with the desire to get clean copies.

Now post Crystal Ball.. those new licks and hints from the vault are coming out clean and in good quality. So I guess i'm not so interested anymore in the Vault.

True, true... but the question was not whether he should release the songs in the Vault. The question was "are you interested?". And without demanding him to release it, I am very interested in getting every song he keeps in the Vault. I am also cool with him sitting on it for the rest of his life.
