Are You as a Fan still interested in what Prince has in the vault? Or is that old news and you wanna hear new stuff?

No, not interested. Sick of the carrot being dangled all these years. If he ever releases anything, I will be glad for all of you.

Sometimes, less is more. Right now, with Prince's latest musical inpsirations, judging by the jazz/instrumental type music he has released, I think"vault" material would only get in the way of his moving forward as an artist.
There are a lot of people who really don't like NEWS and don't like Xpectations etc. and don't like TRC etc. and like it or not, that type of music is where Prince is at right now artistically speaking. Now if all of a sudden Prince made available songs that he wrote in the 80s and or 90's people would almost instantaneously forget about the present. So by focusing exclusively on the present, I think that helps put seperation between where Prince has come from and where he is going. I think Prince learned a valuable lesson by including the The Truth cd with Crystal Ball. A lot of fans may not like the Truth, but artisically speaking I think it's a brilliant work of art. But, because it was included with Crystal Ball which contained other more "Pop" oriented songs, many fans I don't think gave the Truth a fair chance to grow on them. But now, an album like NEWS is released by itself, and as a fan you can either take it or leave it, but you don't really have anything else to fall back on except older material. So in that sense, less is more, because it gives Prince a chance to continue broaden his horizons without constantly being compared to his past in terms of any vault material. But, yes, I am still interested in the vault material being released. But at the same time, I can also see why Prince may not be particularly interested in releasing vault material at the moment. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hell yes.
But unfortunately he'll clearly never release any of it, so we have to rely on bootlegs. I'd like to hear more recent bootlegs - i.e. post-emancipation ones. I guess he tightened his security a hell of a lot coz I don't think there are too many floating about from 1996-2003

If NEWS is the direction in which his musical future is headed, vault material is all that I am interested in at this point from Prince.

Okay, no more jacking. I am extremely interested in vault material. I've only started collecting boots in the past year or so, and it's bitten me hard. There are so many songs that I'd kill for clean versions of (Love Thy Will Be Done, Moonbeam Levels, Your Love Is So Hard...) and so many that I've yet to hear at all. I want all the 80's material. I'm more interested in the Vault stuff than anything else.
I'll always buy the new releases, I'll always be a fan. The way it's going, that Vault stuff looks like it isn't going to see the light of day anytime soon - but Prince changes like the wind, so who knows what he'll feel like doing in a year or two? I presume Prince has a contingency plan for the vault stuff after he dies, but that's so far off, who knows what that is. I just think it would be a crime if even the stuff we've heard through bootlegs didn't get released because there are many, many songs that would blow people's minds. I guess we have to wait and see, I don't lose any sleep over it, but I think Prince has made a mistake by not capitalising on his vast stock of material, the NPGMC is the perfect outlet. 2/3 tracks a month for paying members - give a 256kps mp3 and a little history on the track - or release a quarterly CD of stuff voted for by fans. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm a sucker for a major chord

Okay, there goes all my suspicions about you, Handclaps! Lesbians are scary commitment-freaks. They meet, go on a date, then move in together. With their cats. And granola. The Normal Whores Club

He slowed down considerably in the 90s, so there isn't as much extra material. The Normal Whores Club

I'm not all that interested in the vault stuff. If it ever gets released I will buy it and love it, but I'm not holding my breath wondering what goodies are there.

What are they feeding you? And in the interest of not thread jacking, I like what he is putting out now, but I would love to hear some good vault material.

I'd join the NPGMC like a shot, if he made even one 'Vault' album a year available to MEMBERS ONLY. He could charge what the hell he liked as long as i could get my hands on it.
I've heard so much in hissy, muffled crappy quality that i'm hungry for the real deal.
