im not even sure its REAL Widescreen.
When U put it in a player and select
NORMAL mode or NATIVE mode on your
Projector or Widescreen TV it comes up
4:3 with the letterbox on the top and bottom.
This would indicate that it was shot 4:3
and then they put a masking effect over 2 make
it *look* widescreen. (black bars)
Plus NO-WHERE on the disc does it make a reference
2 a 16x9 mode or any aspect ratio at all.

this is a possible reason it looks so bad on a
widescreen tv.

Mini DV doesn't shoot widescreen. It can't, as it has a 4:3 aspect ratio. But it can be "faked" while shooting the video with a simple menu selection. The resolution does not get tighter, but the bars at the top and bottom appear as an effect.
