How Many Times Did U Read The DMSR Book?

Whew,,,I Just Finished Reading DMSR 4 The 1st Time

I recieved it in the mail yesterday, read it and finished it 2day.

That was a damn good book fa sho, ain't nothing more enjoyable than the 1st 2 chapters(Prince's childhood and the "they say I'm so shy" chapter).

Damn, so many stuff I didn't know and so many stuff are just starting 2 get mo' sense.

What is the mo' enjoyable part of the book?

For me the most enjoyable part of the book is the mad-crazy complete listing of all recordings, including dates, places, participants, drugs used, groceries purchased, which cat got fed first, color of socks, etc. Thorough and just flat-out excellent information to use in a discussion "just WHO exactly performed on the recording of Witness?"

My favorite part of the book was the early part of
the book...or to put it more succintly the period
prior to prince's breakthrough via purple rain!

DMSR...the best book on prn!

For me it's just the best book so far! sometimes i open up the book and start to read. because i've read so many times, and still, one seem to forget fast, because there is so much information in that book.
I even think that Prince should read it! But he probably did! wink
there's just so much detailed info on whatever happened in his life and with the people who he is/was surrounded with..
And my intention is, that everyone around him is very sincere and honest (which probably isn't always so, but Per Nilsen is good in showing the best of everyone he is surrounded with).
Great book! got it next to my bed near the condoms and the tube of lubricant - not that it has anythind to do with sex! ... i only have the finer things of life at hand. wink
Shit, as i think of it, Prince probably has the same stuff on his bedside cabinet! Shit i forgot to mention the bible. He definately has a bible next to his porn lecture these days!
Prince? which porn do you like? biggrin

Just got done reading it. Is he working on DMSR 2? Where did he get all the information about the recording sessions? There are hundreds of dates in there. Damn! Someone did some serious homework or maybe the band members kept a journal. Anyone know?

I think if there ever is a Beatles Anthology type documentary on Prince, Per Nilsen should definately produce it.

I don't think he will do it. He was sick of Prince back then and he might get sick of his book lol hell he may even thought about it but changed his mind at the last minute. Or wrote sevral chapters and then end up tearing it apart.

Per should be working on the Pt.2

Alex Han is aight but he's not very much into "details" like good ol' Per nod

Alan Leeds claims he has been writing a definitive biog on James Brown for years with a view to publishing it one day. Judging by the liner notes in D.M.S.R. Alan was also very appeciative of Per Nilsen's efforts and painstaking attention to detail, and he may have drawn inspiration from Per's "just the facts ma'am" Dragnet style.

If Per doesn't want to have the last word then I cannot think of anybody else more qualified to write a definitive Prince biography. Alan has had the distinction of being close to Prince during crucial periods of his career.

I for one hope Alan finds the inclination to do it.

By all accounts Alan gets along with prince alright. i guess
he'd have to his baby brother continues to work with p.
if he ever did do a book on prince it would be extremely
honest.

dmsr was a great read. did you ever read "pop life" by david
hill?

pop life's alright. but its not essential. the two you have
are more than enough. days of wild is a cool companion to
the two books you have...as far as recording facts go!

i wonder if chaka's book mentions prince at all?

Per has been quoted many times as saying that DMSR 2 will never happen

DMSR cost him far too much money and time to produce.
