Album of the Year That Never Was

Picture it-1985 Grammy Awards--Purple Rain VS Born in The USA--which one would win the coveted album of the Year...the BOOM-Lionel Richie wins with most inoffensive bubble gum sap heard since Barry Mannilow (although i bought a copy myself)...looking back on it now..which of the three would you vote for now?

Lionel Richie"Can't Slow Down".I think in both Cases with Prince&Bruce Springsteen that there Prior Albums were Better than the Ones that Sold all the Records&got all the Hype iMHO.Lionel Richie reached His Peak with his Best Solo Album to date IMHO.for all the Hits Lionel had on that album&whatnot the Best Song never even got released which was "Love will find a way".

I haven't heard the whole Lionel Ritchie album and since I think the whole "Born In The USA" thing was a marketing strategy rather than Springsteen's own idea I still have to pick Purple Rain. Then again I am a Prince fan...Hmmm ;^P

Solo Richie IS the Black Barry Manilow.

just because it's a P website doesn't necessarily mean that everybody is gonna blindly pick PR. All 3 albums have merit and each has at least 4 "classic" songs on it. P doesn't have to win all the time, ya know?
