Were the Lovesexy Live videos part of the same show does anyone know? It just seems rather a diverse setlist 4 the 2nd volume considering there R 2 tracks from The Black Album in SuperFunkyCalifragysexy and Bob George, Erotic City and If I had a Harum. Just curious!

Yes it's the same show.

The Lovesexy shows were performed in 2 halves.
In the first half everyone dressed in black and white
and Prince performed a lot of his racier songs in a loose
story setting, using a lot of medleys. The first set ends
with Prince's 'bad side' being killed (during Bob George)
and then being reborn in a moment of spiritual revelation
(Anna Stesia). There was then an interval, after which
Prince and the band (now wearing brightly colored outfits)
performed a second set of hits and more spiritual songs.

For some strange reason the released videos have the first
set on vol.2 and the second set on vol.1. Which totally
loses the 'rebirth' theme of the show!

Yeah, the reason I was rather confused is when U look at the start of the 2 videos. I know during the Lovesexy tour would usually come out of the cadilac on2 the stage but eben so, the start of the Lovesexy 1. video seems just as good an opening. It is odd Ur right Boris that the sets R the wrong way round!

Whichever part you play first it's still the dang best show ever performed on Earth.

I think it was WB's fault, it released the second part of the show as volume 1 first as it included more hits (Kiss, Purple rain, ecc)

Or, another way of looking at it is that it was Prince's statment that he preferred (or, at least, promoting more) the Lovesexy part of the show, Lovesexy being a state of mind he was aiming to attain and a philosophy he was clearly (from the show) looking to share (erm, either that, or was still trying to get more people to buy Lovesexy ). I doubt it was anything to do with hits, as both videos were available at the same time and so were not really competing with each other, or shown any preference other than the numbering they have been given!

Putting the second half of the show out as the first chapter, is just another one of those odd/dichotomy things Prince is (in)famous for!
