DVD = Missed opportunity... AGAIN!

in a time when artists are taking the opportunity to use the medium of dvd to put out extra stuff 4 fans... prince cuts a show in half and puts it out in basic stereo format!

artists and bands that r not as prolific as prince find extras to pack dvd's to full capacity.

it defies all logic. prince, prolific and innovative puts out a bad quality, edited dvd using less than half the technology available!

aaargh!!!

(clothes begin 2 rip and skin turns green)

still... now people are starting to get the dvd maybe the 'cyberclips' will change to something else?

You just don't get it, do you? Prince is special. He does things differently to other people.

If there is a 20th Anniversary edition of Purple Rain, lets hope the same people aren't handling it

It's a money issue. He's being cheap, that's all. It's the same reason for these "stripped down" concerts we've been getting since 1997. No label to help with the funds, so he's being too tight and controlling of his material. I think the days of getting the most for your buck with Prince are over, pal. Oh well...

LOL. He could always pull a Crystal Ball, and give the retail version more bang for the buck.

Typical of Prince. Now I know I'm gonna be harassed again by
dvd-zelots who buy everything and so also this Prince dvd.

They're gonna be "what's this kinda shit tour Prince went on
last year man? it sucked man, it was lame it was sooo bad in
a painstaking needlethruyoureye kind of way".

WHY THE FUCK NOT RELEASE AN ENTIRE SHOW [NOT PER SE LAS VEG]
IN PERFECT QUALITY, TAG ON SOME PROMO VID FOR A TRC SONG AND
A VID FOR BOTH THE ONA PIANO ALBUM AND NEWS.

OR BETTER YET, A CHUNK OF SOUNDCHECK STUFF AND A BIT FROM
AN AFTERPARTY.

How cool would it be to have an amazing COMPLETE show, plus
say, The C-Note stuff as "Soundchecks" bonus and then some
things like "Bambi" and "Cool" on the Afterparty section.

But no, instead there's this drone. This 'thing' with some
songs on it that are cool and a lot of songs that are plain
old sucky at the best of times.

So, methinks that just like RaveUn2TheYear2000 [worst Prince
item title E-V-E-R] I'll pass this one up and keep waiting
for a decent release of SOTT dvd.

Aah, the sweet, bitter irony of it all.

Prince claims he left his label to have greater freedom to put out more material, and at a time when labels are trying to flood the market with artist "extras." Prince's output skimps on content.

So I guess he's freer to be cheaper and stingier.

Free at last!

So you don't think he's actually released a ton of material since he left WB? I doubt we would've gotten as much music as we have were he still with them. Arguably, the presentation may have been better, but as for sheer output, he hasn't exactly been quiet.
