But I chose Thriller over Purple Rain. So I guess that's a contradiction.

Both of these albums are excellent, and they both have one classic song that really stands out ('Thriller' has "Billie Jean" and 'Purple Rain' has "When Doves Cry").But I refuse to pick one album over the other. That's a hard choice.

But 'SOTT' kills 'Bad' smile

But, come on, people. I mean, really, how's anyone gonna come on Prince.org and say that Mike's classic is better than Prince's? Think about it, folks.

You underestimate how many fans of Mike are on this site, and how many Prince fans there are who simply don't care. hmm

Actually, I'm pretty sure the ratio of Prince fans to MJ fans is 5:1. Anyways, Purple Rain is the better album, so why is this even a debate? There's really no argument here.

Because some fans always feel the need to compare the two, no matter what. But my point is, I don't think most Prince fans on this site even care to bother with voting for one or the other. I have a definite opinion, but don't care to cast a vote.

I think you should be comparing Thriller with 1999 since they were released in the same year

That's no competition... "1999" beats any and everything past and present (Well, maybe not "Dirty Mind" but you get the picture right?)...
"Thriller" is IMO a shit album not a single good song on it, never liked it when I was a kid and loathe it even more now... MJ only made 1 good solo album and that was "Off The Wall", the rest was just pure shitty fluf pop...
"Purple Rain" had some great songs on it, the masterpiece being "When Doves Cry" (IMO one of the best songs ever created)...
