Most new DVD playas and TV's can play the NTSC format. I'm from Australia and own several NTSC dvd's and they play fine.

will they play on european computer dvd drives?

No. PAL and NTSC are different formats, therefore wait for the European version. The NPGMC keep dodging a straight answer

The answer is this
Region 0 NTSC will play in your dvd player BUT if your TV is old - it won't show the picture! So either find out if your TV plays NTSC or sit tight like me and wait for play.com or some other PAL site and pay a cheaper price!

MOST but NOT ALL UK/European DVD players will play NTSC. I know it is not all because my DVD player (purchased Dec 99) will only play PAL.
Anything purchased in the last couple of years will almost certainly be able to play NTSC. I guess it's time for me to get a new DVD player if I want to watch the show when it comes in the mail.

It's so stupid that there's not just one format. "You need people like me so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." "

I just ordered mine for £11.24 from Amazon.co.uk and they are doing free p&p over £25.00 - I ordered 2 (one for me and one for a mate) plus cheap cd I wanted.

The thing to do is to go to is to do a search on the web for "DVD hacks" or "DVD cheats/ all regions". I did this for mine and I found a site (I think it was computergeeks.com or something) were it gave me instuctions on how to set my DVD player to all regions. Real easy, its just like a video game cheat thing. Check it out!!!

Most European TVs bought in the last few years support NTSC, but not all of them. You should check. Certainly, all my imported videogames and DVDs work fine on my TV, and it was a cheap piece of shit out of Tesco If you normally watch DVDs on your PC, you should be fine assuming your DVD playback software has no problems with NTSC. Certainly PowerDVD and WinDVD are fine. If you have dedicated hardware DVD decoder cards in your PC, you should check the manual and documentation that came with it. Phill your message is actually unnecessary - those "DVD hacks" you refer to make your DVD player multi-region alright, but that (a) doesn't affect anyone here because the Prince DVD is region 0 encoded - suitable for all regions and (b) it is no guarantee that your DVD player will have the hardware required to support NTSC. It probably will though, if it is reasonably recent. Ian

ntsc and pal are way different, I didn't know that pal dvd players could play ntsc...
PAL is 25 frames a second higher resolution NTSC is about 30 frames a second, lower resolution. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid
