Do Past Band Members STILL follow Prince's music?

I was thinking about this thing Shelia E is doing at the end of the year with the past band members (Revolution. Is NPG involved too? Maybe they can be the "New Power Revolution"???)

Anyhow, If Prince was to show up 2 this thing, and call out any song, would it work?

Like, for example, Do Wendy & Lisa buy all the Prince CD's and follow his work and what he's releasing. Fink? Bobby Z?

Basically, are the past band members still fans / fams of Prince?

there's a world of difference between the damngood band in the early 80's and the NPG. I ain't too sure they still follow their leader.

And I surely hope this reunion isn't going to be another disappointment ... i would rather leave the past alone!

By the way, I'm not so very excited about a reunion of the Revolution or the NPG ... but if the 1981 band could play once more ... Dez rules! that's how you abuse a guitar.

When asked around the Graffiti Bridge era Wendy and Lisa said they did not. They picked up Graffiti Bridge and seen all the songs that were on there and realized it wasn't new music and put it back down.
Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

very wise girls...nod

Anyway, I don't think W&L do, at least wendy, since she once said she "doesn't follow that guy's career anymore"

In the 80's during his hits prince needed wendy and lisa as much as they needed him. he relized that and got scared so he fired them.

Gale Chapman, told me she hasn't listened to Prince music since 90 or so, neither has she heard anything of his since 96, due to the high publicity of 'Emancipation', but not familiar with any new prince music.

She doesn't really know what Prince is up too these days and havent talked to him since the early 80's but would definitely hook up w/ him musically if he asked her too.

As far as I know, Dr. Fink, Bobby Z., Sheila E., Candy, Eric leeds, and Brown Mark are still up on Prince.

mainly because their still in contact w/ him musically.

errr, no. YOu wouldn't have a fucking clue who they are.., maybe. I don't think prince sat down and taught them how to write a song.

how is that disrespectful? she was honest, she said she didn't follow his career anymore. She said "that guy" because that was when he was o+>. She still gave him props, his music at that time just wasn't her cup of tea. Geesh.

Thats right LoveBizzare, if fact Prince has probably been more disrespectful to them then they ever where to him. They gave him a lot of ideas and never got credit but also never complained because they knew they were in something good.
They wrote the purple rain progression and melody, brought it into rehersals and the band learned it, and ended up getting credit to computer blue in which they only gave one melody line to.

Now that's a reunion (the 80-81 band) that I would love to see, even more than the 84-86 crew. But, with Dez being a born again Christian and Prince being ...whatever it is he's into (no disrespect intended, but I havent heard him claim any religion), what would they play? Where is Andre Cymone, anyway? P has put out some great stuff without them, but I really miss those guys. It would be cool to see them again. With or without Prince. (Preferably with.)
