Hi. My name is Ivy. I'm 34 and I curse. I have burned a CD for my car that has nothing but Prince records that have cursing on them. It's fucking terrific. Whether a person curses or not is not indicative of whether they have "grown up" or not. If Prince were still cursing, there would be no threads saying "Gosh darnit! I wish that darn Prince would stop cursing."

u know i have 2 admit i am, because the sex act and all the cursing and swearing was getting pretty old. If Prince was still doing the same act he did 10 yrs ago, it would only show that he didn't grow, niether as a person or in his music ...

It does seem as if Prince is not being himself which is sad. I could relate to Prince struggling w/ his life as he lived it and God. His being a sensual and sometimes dark human being, yet still reaching for God's light.

Now it seems so sterile.

it's cool that P doesn't curse anymore becuz now i can take my kidz 2 a show with me (that is if they want 2 go, they don't think he's cool, just old).

but at the same instance A LOT of people think his NewFound Self is Force Feeding his Religious or Spiritual Beliefs on us & other people.

u know what??? don't listen 2 his Music! or the NEW music. u can Turn of the CD or Tape Deck u know. there is no ForceFeeding 2 it at all. i'm Muslim & the Christian Theology doesn't sit well with me either but i enjoy the Music & i do a little lyric changing myself on certain songs.

c'mon people the New Prince is a Cool Ass Prince & at the same time "Turn It Off" if u don't like it. but u secretly Love it don't u???

I don't think Prince has ever has been himself with us. His lyrics, while coming perhaps from his personal experiences, have hardly ever been personal. Just a quick example, Sometimes it Snows in April, though touching, doesn't say anything personal about Prince. Also, considering his almost complete lack of communication with fans, whether directly or through the media, he just doesn't show his real self to us. There has always been an opaque charade, and swearing or not doesn't make much of a difference to that charade.

it doesn't matter to me. i do wish, though, that he wouldn't substitute curses with things like "we don't give a duck what u got on"... i mean, that's just stupid. i kind of like the no cursing thing. it is a relief from most of the music i hear on the radio. you know, with every other word bleeped out.

As a Christian, I used to struggle about Prince's cursing in his music...not anymore with his newer stuff!!
