Gold Nigga - Is it actually any good?

Gold Nigga is the only Prince/NPG album I don't own.

Damn I wish I'd purchased it years ago when it came out sad

Anyways, I see copies going on ebay for anything between 80 to 130 sheets, so I guess this is now much sought after.

I'm not bothered about parting with the cash for it, hell I've spent enough over the years.

I have a question though for any orgers who own this; Is it any good?, and how much is does Prince contribute to the tracks?
Little? Yeah, right. It might be little but it's loud

I think it's quite good.

Everyone says the only track worth listening to is Johnny, which is good, but I like Black MF in The House and Deuce & A 1/4 too, and of course Call The Law & 2Gether.

The two instrumentals Oilcan and Goldies Parade are also great.

If you like the band sound of prince, it's very close to that IMO.

It was nice back in the days but I haven't listened to it for years.
For sure it is not worth more than 10 or 15 dollars. Don't spend too much money on it.

It's pretty good, but not great. Check out your local used cd store - that's where I bought my copy for about $8.00.

I recently got a CDR copy and it's good. I recommend the similar Exodus CD by NPG as well.

I live in the UK and it's virtually impossible to get a copy in stores. I assumed this was why it was so expensive to get via ebay.

From what I hear, it doesn't warrant £100 but maybe that's the way it is, unless I get a copy.

I'm not a big fan of Tony M, is he all over this album?

If you are a fan of Tony M, you'll love Gold Nigga. It has a few cool songs but it is a fairly lame disk. THE EXODUS HAS BEGUN. Now that is a great NPG album.

It's never been available officially in stores in the UK. I presume you've seen a second hand copy or a bootleg.

Shafty - DO NOT pay anymore that $10 for it. It's not worth it. Wait until you find it for cheap. It's an ok cd, but it's not worth anymore than $10.

I don't think that's going to happen. You may have lucked into a copy but not that many copies were sold so it's not likely he is going to see one used for that price. On ebay the price is much higher.

Lovemachine - you are probably right. It's too bad because I got mine about 3-4 years ago for under $10. I can't imagine paying anymore than that for it, but I guess us die hard fans will pay almost anything for Prince music.

At the garage sale they had cases of them that they were selling for $3 each.

There are actually TWO versions of this album floating around. The one that is typically going for the higher dollar is the version with a song called, "Guess Who's Knockin'." This track was removed at one point, and the album rereleased. The version without said track, which I own, you can get for a decent price. The rarity of the first version is what makes it so pricey.

I think Goldnigga is great. Even better than EXODUS. It just sounds more raw to me.
