How would you rate Prince as an actor in his movies??

On a scale of 1-10...

...about a 6!!

I liked him in Purple Rain but was somewhat trying too hard in Under The Cherry Moon and was dreadful in Graffiti Bridge...I'm just glad he stopped making movies altogether...if only Madonna could take the hint as well!!biggrin

10. I don't know, why or what, anyone could knock him for what he did in 'Purple Rain', and his role in 'Under the Cherrymoon' because his acting was believable, convincing, and emotional, as it was also funnier in the latter. Now 'Graffiti Bridge' might be another story, because it wasn't so much the acting, but the storyline that needed help, so in my book, for the kind of work that he's done with the first two, I'd say he's great 'in his own kind of way', but on a broader scale, of course, he's greatest as a musician.

I'd say 7.5 with great potential. He was excellent in Purple Rain, but I think it went downhill from there even though I enjoyed Under The Cherry Moon

i'd give him a 2. based on Purple Rain and Grafitti Bridge. the only reasons i watched those movies was for the music and performances, his acting is a bit stiff

Al Pacino told me last night that he, De Niro and Daniel Day Lewis all considered giving up the profession after watching Grafitti Bridge in 1990 cuz they all felt the entire spectrum of human emotion had now finally been revealed in Prince's astonishingly vivid, soul-tearing performance as troubled recluse 'The Kid'.
If I recall, De Niro wept as Al held him: "What's the point of makin' fuckin movies anymore, Al? It's all there in motherfucking Grafitti Bridge. We're over...Hollywood will crumble and picture houses all over Earth will screen this movie 24/7 until the end of eternity."

He is a shit actor.

a great songwriter.

Purple Rain in completely un-watchable apart from the music performances. UTCM is prince playing an over the top version of himself, not hard and i can happily say i made my memory forget ever seeing GB.

His best performance was in Under The Cherry Moon. But overall he's not too good. 3 or 4.

I'd rate him a 3. Relatively few people watch him for his acting abilities. They watch him either for his music or looks. I actually think he makes quite a good comedic actor, but is not good in the least as a dramatic actor.

No it isn't. And that's why I wrote ANOTHER OPINION afterwards. So there shouldn't be any problem.
