Q1: NPGMC Year One Instrumental [3:05] - Q2: Motherless Child Studio version?

Q1: NPGMC Year One Instrumental [3:05]

Does this track have another name?

Q2: Motherless Child Studio version?

Was there ever one recorded? I just downloaded the Septimo performance, I was blown away, I thought it was fucking amazing.

I don't have the files or the timings of them in front of me. Just a short description will do!

The track you're talking about was only called "Instrumental" when it was made available for download - it is clearly some kind of instrumental remix of The Holy River, though, probably from when The Holy Rover maxi-single was planned (this was talked about in early 1997).

killer guitar jam..."habibi" 3:45
instrumental track 3:05 ...holy river instrumental.
are you talking about the one where he plays the melody
on guitar, with his "benson" sound, and in the minor key?

"Habibi" is also kind of a cover of Hendrix's "Machine Gun", right?

Thanks for the help, I'm listening to it properly now, and I can clearly hear that it's The Holy River.

Such an odd single choice that one was, not because it wasn't a good song, but Prince isn't the best person at choosing singles is he!

No way... those two songs are nothing alike...
Both cool, but way different

Huh? Habibi = Machine Gun...are you sure you're talking about Machine Gun and not one of Jimi's other songs? This was one of the songs Prince did for the Hendrix album he used to tease us with.
