WHAT IF YOUR PRINCE BOOTLEGS WERE LOST/STOLEN/BROKEN?

I mean do people keep back-ups of CDR's? If so, does everyone keep 2 copies of each boot just in case one of them wears out or is broken?

Also, what if a burgler stole all your Prince boots. What would you do? Have you considered insurance?

I've only got one copy of each boot and am thinking of making extra copies!

i have $75k insurance on my apt.

however, no amount of money can replace the sentimental belongings.

if i found out who stole them, i'd send them an email requesting that they put them in a box and mail them to ohio, where i'd have them forwarded to seattle...

I'm in a bootleg circle with some friends so if mine were stolen I could easily replace the important titles.

I buy extra copies of official releases that will be out of print. I got 3 copies of NEWS and 2 copies of ONA and Crystal Ball becuse they are already rarities. I wish I did this with the Vanity 6 and Jill Jones CDs.

I think if someone stole my stuff I would stop collecting bootlegs. If I was to record them all to cdr, it would take about a week of time I dont have.

Personally, I don;t know what I'd do if my Citylights collection went missing. Those Cd's are my favourite recordings of all time.

Where I live isnt really a secure apartment and I'm thinking of making copies and locking them in a bank "vault" for safety. Is this behaviour 'Over The Top'?

Some fuckers broke into my basement two weeks ago while I was in England and stole all the 12" hiphop oldschool vinyl
I had. Fortunately they didn´t steal my old StarWars collection from way back. I think among the stolen records
were also some really rare things like the 1st Ice-T record
from 1982, a Jimmy jam and Terry Lewis production.
Two days ago some junkies tried to break in again, this time into the apartments. Police came and let them go.
Have to get a highsecurity door next week or move out.
But back to the question...I´m thinking about copying ALL
important music onto cdr. Just in case, you never know...

I'm in the process of backing it all up.

I have 4 DVD discs full of every released and unreleased track.

Just the live stuff to go!!!

I store them at my parents in case the house goes up in flames.

Well all of my prince collection was stolen from my house when I was just 18. Thing is those were the days all them limted edition cd singles with holograms, extra songs and all that jazz and were all labelled as imports and I paid £8 - £12 for one. Plus bootlegs and all my other non prince music. I was looking at well over 1200 cd's. The insurance company didn't believe I had so many and wanted seriel fucking numbers of every cd I had!!!

I doubt if an insurance company will compensate you for bootlegs. They have no legitimate value because they're illegal to begin with.

All boot and non-boot material by Prince that can be burned to a CD is (and always will be) available on the net so why bother burning CDs?

I've got an 80 Gig hard drive filled with nothing but Prince material. 80 Gig drives are now less than $100(Canadian). It seems like a waste of time to back up all this stuff to CD or even DVD. If my computer was stolen I could replace everything that I liked in a week through a high-speed connection.

Now, if you're talking about material items, I have a bunch of 12" singles by the man. I'd be upset if these were lost/stolen/broken because they have sentimental value.

My roomate and I had a party once, and someone helped themselves to our CD collection. There were so many people that we have no idea who actually did it. It really sucked, since the person was obviously a Prince-fan. The mf'n thief took most of the official releases, my 12" to a yard 4-cd set, and 4 boots (I was lucky I kept all my other boots in another room). They also took Wendy & Lisa's Eroica CD, Sheila's releases, & my one and only Family cassette. Needless to say I was incredibly pissed. I have since replaced almost all of it (this happened about 2 years ago). The last party we had we made a bunch of CD-Rs and locked up all of our CDS in our storage locker. I was also asking EVERYONE if they liked Prince to see if I could find the culprit, I had a few "he's ok" or "I liked Purple Rain" or "isn't he gay?" So who knows if the mf'r was there. mad

Needless to say I'd go ballistic of this happened to me. Of all the people to take your Price Boots you'd think friends would have a bit more decency...

We're having a BBQ in a couple weekends, and my roommate said I should make some CD-Rs of the boots, put them on a table, and see if anyone takes them, then at least we'll know its someone in our immediate circle. I personally don't think it is, there where a lot of strangers in our place that night of the party. But I think I am going to try this to see what happens/

My old roommate cleaned out my ENTIRE Prince collection (Official & Boots) before she moved out. The worst part was that she wasn't even a big fan! We had a fight before she moved out and she decided to hit me where it hurt. I never saw her after she moved out.

So now, I'm in the process of re-building my official collection. I haven't even started on boots yet. I just visited the local wrecka stow I used to get boots from and the owner told me that they haven't carried a Prince boot in ten years! When I asked why, he simply responded "Prince is all dried up" hrmph

How can our boots get stolen? Didn't everyone else send them all back after the email request?
