Both NEWS and Xpectation make great background-music-during-study-music!

I love "N.E.W.S" as well but it certaintly isn't as different as his music from years ago. But you can't deny that it is a very enjoyable listen. I just wish he would go back to songs with lyrics!

What I meant in my original post is just that it is a kick-ass pice of music. No, it's not groundbreaking, No, it's not smashing the barriers of modern pop music and No, it probably won't be remembered as Prince's finest recording. Nonetheless, it is a great piece of music to have playing in the house or in the car and, sorry, I think it does kick ass!!! It's fine funky jazz. Still, roll on the next proper vocal album.

I dont think prince was trying to capture the POP culture audience hmmm. I guess this is what he has been stressing the past couple years and, well it also right on the freakin package :"NEW DIRECTIONS IN MUSIC" thank the lord he doesn't have to listen to any stoopid MF that would want him to continue his same old grind, let the talentless ones put out the "popular" crap, and let a master alone too do his work


besides with a back catalogue like he claims to have, why would he have the NEED to continue making YOUR ideals of HIS music, be glad he let you even hear this!

The FACT is that people who like N.E.W.S. are in the tiny minority of music listeners. And damn I'm tired of people saying those who don't like it, don't know how to listen to good music. It's a matter of taste, and to most people it tastes like shit.

And for those that say NEWS isn't groundbreaking or innovative, note that this is not pop music and give East another spin. When's that last time you heard a song like that?

East is very different, but I listen to a lot of experimental/indie type music, so as far as groundbreaking.. I wouldnt say that. Probably my dissapointment in the song is the very beg. of it.. I figured he would at least have a real instrument doin that, its just a keyboard, that doesnt really matter, but the rest of the song is brilliant.
