He's done this stuff before, and much better. NEWS is not new, it's not any more "real" than anything else he's done.

and it's boring too, i mean..some people would find this interesting (but only becouse there is written "prince" on it, guess you would't even listen to a 15 minutes 4 track ep if it was from another musician..) BUT it's boring for the "normal people" standards, and it's boring for the fans with a critic behaviour and a taste for his works from the past...and it's boring for real spiritual people, wich normally don't try to show "how great they are" to majors and internet costumers, but just to god (e.g cat stevens, who RETIRED to be free of play his music to god)
And it's boring to real "jazz-funk" musicians (wich would consider it childish if they even listen to it) and it's boring to newage costumers (it's useless for a serious meditation session wich normally don't contemplete music in ) and it's boring for the kids ( whic likes different, glittering, mtv stile music) and boring for the veterans ( the majority very tired and SAD -that's why we post here- about the mess he did with his musical career and his genius)...so it's a very BORING ep, in my personal opinion..

Sad is the word that sprung to mind when I read your post

Funny you say this is your personal opinion and still have the nerve to think for all fans with a critic standard, for all real jazz funk musicians, for all new-age customers and for the kids, who all will find it boring. Isn´t that a little arrogant for your part?

I happen to be a highly critical fan, I don´t mindlessly swallow all the music Prince puts out . Please don´t think for me and don´t think that the fact you are a "veteran" makes you any more right

no, he was a part of my personal behaviour amd statement, but if you think i'm wrong then PROOF ME, just show me fans whic are happy whit ALL his music, qualified musicians wich consider rc or news "significant", new agers wich use news as a meditation platform, kids which even knows who prince is, and i'll be glad..
i'm just posting my impression from the his new musical deals, i don't pretend nothing neither i feel nervouse if someone shows a different opinion..why don't you?

hazel,

just before my first listen of N.E.W.S (and read all the critics about it, i said 2 myself: "hey, u can b disappointed, people find it boring and not very interesting". I warned myself. i had this critic behaviour u talked about.

and u know what? After all these self-warnings, i enjoy the album. I travelled with it, i danced with it, i thought with it etc.

that's the point and my opinion. And i talk for nobody else, neither normal people, nor spiritual people.

My thought is that people expect something precise every year coming from prince. The NEWS-haters would love it if xpectation didn't see the light this year, don't u think?

It's not a quality but quantity question. 2 instrumental lps are too much? I don't think so. And some melodies are better than lyrics.

peace

i completely agree with you..i've also BUYED and LISTEN to news, and i enjoy it a lot..but i have to admit it's mediocre, selfish,overrated..at least.
it's a fact that the "norm costumer" will not love it (be honest:will never ever listen to it!) and a big amount of fans (in this forum or simple nostalgic from the '80 who sailed to other musical interests) will consider it with indulgence, but not the love and respect that lovesexy or 1999 deserves..

i don' want u to prove me anything. It's just that when i read a good review of NEWS, it's a long and very precise review. when i read a bad one, it's one sentence long and had 3 times "boring" in it.

i respect all opinions, specially the well-thought ones.

I love N.E.W.S. and I love Slipknot.

Music is art and a reflection of how a human being feels.

NEWS is how I feel when I'm making a candle-lit dinner with just enough strong points so people don't fall asleep.

Slipknot is how I feel when I read opinions with no merit on music, "killing is too good for them".

just my twocents

It is a physical, breathing, glittering fact that Prince and Marilyn Manson have more similarities than Prince/Miles, Prince/TTD, Prince/Jacko or any other silly and ill-thought-out comparison that I see too much on the org.
You always become what you rebel against. Always. If you are an extremist like Warner or Nelson, you have to take it as far as it goes. There is no middle ground with these people. I'm very interested to see what Manson's spouting 15 years from now. And BTW, he is not a Satanist. Turn off the TV - the mass media are fertilising your puny minds with manure and lumpy vomit.
And you silly sausages that say 'I want my Prince back'. Jesus Fuck, stop typing, stand up, turn the computer off and stop putting cancerous dark thoughts in my head concerning hammers and heads.
Peace lol

And BTW, Prince is no more of a Jehovah's Witness than sodding Eminem. He lives to fuck with minds. Even his own.

And BTW, for the pseudo-religion haters, 'Mellow' on TRC is one of the most sexually explicit songs he has ever written. Just because he's not entertaining your inner 12-year-old with 'I found a funny way of stopping the juice' and 'I never let an erection go to waste' doesn't mean that his cock still couldn't have your eye out in the front row.

And BTW, The Rainbow Children is his greatest work. Another fact you have now learned. It has balls the size of Saturn and the strangest, most enchanting cyllendrical fusion work ever released by a mainstream 'pop' artist. If you can't hear beauty, life and true wonder on that recording then your soul has been stolen by the Banished Ones.

In the words of someone else...he's searching again, and like never before.

Remember, there's always someone with a big nose who knows...

ok,ok NOW i understand:
1. i don't want prince back, his music will never been the same..
2. it's useless to claim how i would like to see remastered back catalouge, classic dvd, outakes and live versions: it's all up to warner, it's not prince to blame if we don't have this things..
3. rc, ona, news are not crap, but beautiful, inspired pieces of art that will be remembered as milestones even years after thei've been published
4. this is a prince forum, intended for prince's fan..haters are not welcome...

forget something? other rules?

Shite, I missed the point.

Which was...he's still the biggest freak out there. He's still the guy y'all loved and worshipped like the risen Christ at one point or another.

You just have to try a bit harder now. He's challenging himself...and us. Open up and let the light in. It's warm here, people have smiles on their faces and wear their hair on one side.

But of course, there is no God and when we die we go to the worms. Better make the most of it now. Tennents is better than Miller. Budweiser is best tho. It's the beer you imagine Zeus drinking after a hard day's ruling the universe and all its contents.

Hazel...are you a necrophilliac? Whay in the name os sodomy do you want to fuck the past? What is the point of dead music?

THIS is where it's at! NOW! HERE and NOW! listen to Bob - Don't Look Back! All you are doing is missing the person you were at that point in your life when everything seemed magical and not the decrepid, crumbling, monotomous, loveless wreck it is now.

Roadhouse Garden? I would rather listen to Prince wank into a tin bucket.

Stop blaming Prince for being Prince. The guy gave you more than you could ever give him. If you don;t like the look of the water, get off the boat.

Hazel, I love you. You bring out my anger. I feel like a real big man. Thank you for your hatred and darkness. May Satan's sperm continue eating its way through the lining of your stomach and making you twitch to The Man's groove.
