(Shall We) Dance????

Hey!

What can you people tell me about this song?
It's not fake is it?
Was it a NPGMC track?
From what year is it?

Boris?

'Shall We Dance' is a track by Brown Mark
from his 1989 album 'Good Feeling'.
It was written by Prince (who can be heard
doing the sampled 'Dance!" backing vocals)
The track was produced by Levi Seacer at
Paisley Park, and has all the hallmarks
of Prince's 'Batman' era sound.

Thanx Boris... but are you sure it's not P singing? It sure sounds like him? BTW the track I have is 4:36 long.

Unless there's a copy of Prince's guide-vocal version
of the track floating around that I'm not aware of...
It's definitely Brown Mark on lead vocals (I've got
the album that it comes from). There's another track
with major Prince input on the album called 'Bang Bang'
which is in a similar vein.

'Shall We Dance' - no brackets in the song title, and the CD has no question mark in the title (although it is registered with that punctuation at the Library of Congress). The CD states the track time to be 4'41".

Typically no Prince credit is given at all for this composition of his in the liner notes, although he is credited with background vocals on 'Bang Bang' and the courtesy appearance reference and thanks are given in the liner notes.

Both tracks are stated as produced by Levi Seacer Jr. and engineered by Femi Jiya at Paisley Park. All instrument credits are given to Mark and Levi. Aside from Prince, Mark, Levi and Margie Cox are credited with background vocals on 'Bang Bang'.

As Boris states, they both bear the hallmarks of Prince input, and it is Prince's vocal sample in 'Shall We Dance', although all background vocals are credited to Mark on this track
ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.
