A few years back in Australia, someone found a loophole in a law that said as long as the original bootleg CD already existed it could be copied and released, as long as it stated clearly that it was in fact NOT authorized by the artist and stating that the sound quality may not be as perfect as an approved release.
This was a great way for Australian fans to get their hands on bootlegs from all artists as the bootleg scene is not surprisingly... SHIT. I see reviews of these items from time to time stating how they are just bad copies of already existing bootlegs. Well all I can say is they are perfect digital copies as any CD copy would be, only difference is the artwork. There were 3 companies from what I can remember Unauthorized, Unapproved and Unlicensed on the labels of Joker, Banana and another I cant remember.. They released a great many bootlegs from a huge range of artists in the 6 months or so before this loophole was found out and closed. I have many of them and of course multiple copies of the Prince ones as they only cost the amazing price about US$3 each !!! SO there you go . IF you see one of these, check on G2P or somewhere what is actually on it first, you might be picking up a classic bootleg at a bargain price ! that's all ! because my avatar said so ! . I remember finding a complete Diamonds and Pearls show (one of the main boots available for the D&P tour) released like this. Cost me 6 USD for two discs 
The packaging of all those bootlegs was pretty dire. Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop. | |
