Prince to appear at the Rolling Stones gig in Toronto? Here's the full article:
http://ottawa.cbc.ca/regi...es20030730 More than 400,000 expected at concert TORONTO - More than 400,000 fans were expected to catch the Rolling Stones and 14 other acts performing in a benefit concert to help Toronto, psychologically and economically, to recover from its battle with severe acute respiratory syndrome this spring. Jann Arden The music started shortly after noon Wednesday, with Jann Arden singing the national anthem and Dan Aykroyd, Jim Belushi and the Have Love Will Travel Revue leading off the performances. Aykroyd shared hosting duties with comedian Mike Bullard. Montreal rocker Sam Roberts, Ottawa singer Kathleen Edwards and Quebec's La Chicane took the stage in the second hour CBC Newsworld's Jian Ghomeshi estimated there were about 100,000 people at Downsview Park at the start of the show. He said the smell of marijuana smoke wafted through the crowd. Jeff Woods, of Toronto's classic rock station Q107, told CBC Newsworld, besides the headliners, there's rumours Bono and other members of U2 could appear, along with Paul McCartney and Prince. "It's just gravy if any of those people show up," he said. [This message was edited Wed Jul 30 15:15:06 PDT 2003 by PhilG]

I heard that Justin Timberlake was booed loudly at the gig. The lesson here is: if your music genre is different from that of The Stones & you don't want to be booed, don't play on the same bill as them.

Oddly enough, I think Prince was booed off the stage when opening up for the Stones years ago(1980?).
I think Justin Timberlake would be booed before Prince. Everyone up here knows P is a gifted performer. Not only that but you can bet he'll play what the crowd wants to hear (any bets on "Whole Lotta Love?). I think it's quite likely he'll play though. He just bought a house here right? Gotta make a good impression on the new neighbours and help out a little!

How come his little punk ass didn't get hit with an OJ bottle like Mark did? I wish I was there, I would've found something to throw.

Well, prince might not sound like the stones but ppl still like seeing him perform, u can't help it. even if ppl can't admit it, they like prince.
Plus if prince played something he would know how to get the crowd into it. Plus unlike justin or 1980, he has a backround (except for some issues) of great music.

We all know that Prince's ego is far too big for him to show at a gig like this. He would never unless he was headlining. Prince has been in TO for a couple of weeks and I would not be surprised to know he attended back stage, but I did not and would not expect him to perform.
