Prince is repeating himself... funkaholic1972 said: I've just been listening to the C-Note tracks and NEWS and I found that the second part of "South" is very similar (if not sounding exactly the same!) to "Osaka".

Xcogitate and avalanche are VERY different tracks both in chord structures and instrumentation.
i don't know how you could describe them as similar apart from perhaps the walking way in which they open. But there is no way these too are similar beyond that.

Phil obviously missed it. Pay particularly close attention to the chorus of Avalanche and nothing else. And pretty much the whole of Xcogitate.

2 my ears hear he builds Xcogitate around the chorus of Avalanche.

I can hear the similarity between Xcogitate and Avalanche but can't hear much similarity with South and Osake... will give it another try.
Maybe these are the New directions: backwards Just kidding, this new stuff is great Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

Maybe these are the New directions: backwards Just kidding, this new stuff is great South starts with a funky section, but that obviously isn't resembling Osaka in any way. But after a few minutes the music changes to a more mellow section with the bass playing just one long note "on the one". That section is very similar to Osaka if you ask me! RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

Yeah, I noticed the long bass notes. That bit reminds me of the quiet strung out part of Pink Floyd's Dogs (which is good).Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

He has been repeating himself for ages.
Dear Michael Angelo on Romance 1600...the guitar solo is slowed down and played note for note on Scandalous Sex Suite The Rapture. The guitar on 1+1+1=3 is taken from Hello. Lots of Clare Fisher's Orchestrations that first appeared on Parade and in UTCM have resurfaced on other tracks...Violet The Organ Grinder for one. The drums from Slave are on the chorus to Ain't No Place Like You on the Mayte album. just a few examples.
