I didn't necessarily consider myself as 'young' anymore, but I'm 27...Apparently I look younger, I still get carded for cigarettes and beer!

My first memory of loving Prince was with Kiss, ATWIAD, and D&P, but there was something about the symbol album got me hooked...Maybe because it was the first time I ever saw him live? So from then on, I've been known in these parts as the local "Prince Freak". smile

If I see the word Fam again, i'm going to shoot my PC.

Yeah - what is all that about?

I'm recently 20, but went apeshit over the guy in 99. Beck's Midnite Vultures' album was getting loads of reviewers who said he was living out 'white boy prince fantasies', so I borrowed the SOTT video off my friend's dad, and the next day went and bought the album and Purple Rain. Then I got the SOTT video myself and went on from there. I need to stock up on my bootlegs and live/rarer vids/CDs, etc...

Incidentally, where I'm from (Plymouth (England's Plymouth) - the dirty south) being a Prince fan could get you stoned to death *L* It's always funny when you tell someone you love Prince. So many connotations come out of it...Then you just have to prove you ain't gay, by shagging every girl in the room...wait, did I say too much?

hmm Okay.

Well, I'm not topless at the moment, but I am 25, been a Prince fan all my life. I like to boast about the fact that I was born on the release date of Prince's first album (Tuesday, April 7, 1978). It was meant to be...

Wow, that's cool.

My finacee was born two days before you, on April 5. Whenever I'm engrossed in Prince music, I always use that fact to show that she comes before Prince in my book.

my mum's birthday is april 5th!

I started to like him when I was 14 in 1999. I remember TLC had an MTV special of their top 40 favorite videos and "Kiss" and "1999" were shown for it. I ended up taping both. Then I noticed my neighbor had The Hits and B-Sides so I borrowed it. I think the first time I realized this was something I could really get into was hearing "7" the first time. Right after that I started buying 5 albums a week or more. Seems like there were a lot of Prince-related things on TV then. "Where are they now" had "The Prince Girls" special with Vanity, W&L, etc. VH1 had a special of whatever that show was, VH1 Timeline that did clips of all different P/TAFKAP videos. It was great.

I'm 21 and I've been a Prince fan since I was 2 years old. My father and mother were big Prince fans when I was a baby, so his music was always around me. I was always telling my father 2 put "Purple Rain" or "Prince and the Revolution:LIVE" on 4 me 2 watch when I was like 3 years old. I saw "UTCM" and "SOTT" at the theater here in Detroit when they were released. My mother even gave me a Prince birthday party on my 5th birthday back in 1986. She had someone paint a picture of Prince on my birthday cake, and I got a Parade era poster of Prince (with him sitting on the edge of the stage with the outfit and jacket from the "Kiss" video, singing in2 the mic, with his name going down the side of the poster in pink lettering.) as a present. As my mother and father's interest in his music dwindled, mine grew more and more. But most of my grade school teachers found it odd that I was obsessed with Prince and his music while others obsessed over Ninja Turtles or Power Rangers, or sports. In 5th grade I used 2 wear the microphone gun t-shirt 2 school like every week. My mom got it 4 me when she saw him here at the Fox Theater back in '93. It was my first t-shirt and I cherished it. By then, I was living in Tennessee with my father, and one teaher sent me home because of the "violent imagery" of the gun shaped mic, and he thought the love symbol was somehow connected with satanic cult. Of course, people thought I was weird or gay cause they thought the same thing about Prince, and I was quick 2 defend me and him, which made it worse! Still 2 this day, U find old schoolers who are surprised that I admire and respect Prince so much, because of my age. It's not considered cool 2 like "the dude with the high heels, hair style better than my girlfriend's, with the yellow ass out jumpsuit who changed his name 2 a symbol because it means he's a male/female, or he's attracted 2 them both". I credit UPTOWN magazine, EBAY, and bootlegs 4 keeping my interest in Prince and his music a main priority in my life...
