I'm 19. I know how you feel: from 14-18 I was known in school as "that girl who likes Prince". But it was cool I made friends with people and when they listened to Prince with me they realized they liked his music. I think people have this stereotyped image of him, and they think that his top songs are what all of them are like. People think all his songs are like "Little Red Corvette" and "Purple Rain"..I don't think they're aware of his spiritual side, depth, and some of the more mellow things he has done. To them he's just another 80's pop star.

god, i'm a baby! i'm fourteen...been a prince fan my whole life, my dad is a fan so i was raised on lots and lots of prince. i'm known around school as the 'prince girl' and i painted his symbol on my classroom wall (i go to an alternative school, so they let us do stuff like that) as well as having a yearbook award created for me, entitled "most likely to sing you a prince song in class". and, no, i don't associate prince with his massive hits. i am a fan, and many people don't think that a fourteen year old could really like more than just prince's hits. well...they're wrong! yeah, that pretty much covers me being a young prince fan...ciao! you make my titties itch. | |

I'm 20 from Scotland. And I got sprayed with Purple silly string and treated to a nasal version of lets go crazy a la Morris day in Purple Rain when i told a few folk i was going to see the man. The funny thing is these same people go and see shit like Ocean Colour Scene (crap english band) and think that Terence Trent D'Arby was in the commodores- so i think this helped me justify my love of Prince. Never really had anybody other than those with a broad musical knowledge to talk 2 about Prince, which is pretty poor “If I can shoot rabbits/then I can shoot fascists” | |
