QUALITY OF VEGAS DVD

I have seen the snippet of Work Pt I, as someone posted on this forum earlier.

Teh quality is terrible, looks liek an amateur thing, surely the DVD is superb quality, not liek some muppet in the crowd? please tell me Prince has done this professionally?

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks

Quality like the Rave2000 dvd - perfect
Hope it's in 5.1 sound too!

That snippet is amazing compared to the DVD...

I've heard that it is pretty terrible being as a lot of it was shot with handheld cameras.

Basing any assumptions of quality on something you get off the net is just plain stupid.

I personally quite enjoy the style of it (at least the clips from the Club). If the rest is in the same vein, I think it's cool... lively.

Didn't like RAVE very much, though.

I heard that Sam Jennings and a few of his lackies recorded that Vegas show with handheld digital cameras. They also tried to be "creative", meaning fucked up angles that make you sick.

It will not be like RAVE.

RAVE was professionally filmed and edited.

ONA looks quite choppy.

We'll see!!

lol i bet Prince "encouraged" (see brainwashed) Sam and his buddies to buy or bring their own video cameras to record the show.

Talk about doing stuff on the cheap...and he wants 15 bucks a pop?, lol...wouldn't surprise me if some fam "mastered" the DVD using home authoring software and a burner.

It was shot with pro-sumer video cameras in a low-tech, DIY way, which completely fit the aesthetic of the studio record, the live record (which was recorded onto DAT or DA-88s or something, no mobile truck as would be customary), and the tour itself, which was no massive production to be sure. Don't forget, Prince has no record deal -- he's got to pay for these things himself. And this is what allows him to keep the price point extremely low and still make money.

Nine Inch Nails did a similar thing last year with their concert DVD. Reznor said why do we need all this expensive pro stuff? He just got ten guys with handycams, taped each show, and cut it together on his Powerbook on the back of the bus. More raw and punk-rock that way.

I like that approach.

Trent actually knows what he's doing, Sam nitwit and his cronies however...
Compare Prince's DVD with NIN's DVD and see how it should be done...
