I just went to Best Buy and 2 of the most popular independent stores in Detroit and none of them had it. Best Buy and Hot Hits acted like they'd never even heard of it. Why can't there just be concrete dates?

No! I went to three big stores (one really isn't know for music) and none of them has it. However, Media Play hasn't gotten a whole shipment of CDs yet (I looked around and noticed no new releases even though they said they got them in but then said that they didn't get CDs through BMG, one of their 3 main shippers). I did something stupid and reserved it at Media Play. I think when I left Best Buy, they were stocking the sheleves. I should have waited! But then again, I better just wait for Media Play now. Stupid me. So has anyone seen it? Excuse me...has anyone seen it in America! No wonder patriotism is down!

i just went ahead and ordered it off of amazon. if i see it in the store before i get the amazon copy that's cool w/me too. the music store i was at tonight said that best buy is notoriuos for telling folks that they're out of stock of something when they never had it in the first place

anyhoo, the guy checked his computer and said the date had been pushed back to the end of august.

I picked it up at the Electric Fetus (in MPLS) tonite (cos I was lazy and scared so I didn't order it from the club)

The funny thing was the salesperson warned me about it before he rang it up "uh, just so you know there are no vocals on this cd"

I laughed and said "yeah, trust me, I know more about this cd than you'd ever want to know. I'm just getting it to add to my Prince shelf, it's like crack"

he said "well, at least it's collectors crack"

and I walked out wondering..."WHY DID I BUY THIS?" I know it'll be in used bins around here within the month

i called cheapo records yesterday in uptown mpls hoping they'd have it and the guy didn't even know prince had a new release. in fact he told me if there WAS a new release he'd for sure know about, and have it, as uptown is 'prince headquarters'

which is when i told him about NEWS, the website, the ORG. at which point he said he'd look into it.

i bought the album from electric fetus. it ROX

Got mine from HMV today. Haven't given it a good listen yet but I don't think much of the packaging. How long of being opened and closed will it last? Oh well, at least it's some new Prince.

Finally got mine at trusty old Record Time. It was only $13 too so that was cool.

I went all the fuck over the Twin Cities on Tuesday, and couldn't find it...should've gone to the Fetus, eh???

It was very popular in the stores here in Japan...
It is already sold out at most places.

The sad thing is... the aren't ordering anymore to stock, only special order (as an import from the U.S.) it costs about $21 USD in Japan retail.

I bought "News" today at J&R Music World
in New York. I payed $14.99.

I was just idly flicking through their (rubbish) sale, wasting time really, and thought I'd just have a look at the Prince section while I was there, and hidden behind a copy of Hits 1,2&B was 4 copies of N.E.W.S.!
