MTV is beneath him. They do not deserve him. Mtv has lost sight of who they are and where they came from and are completely irrelivent when it comes to music. Prince should advise his people not to even return their calls and send them a sample clip of the movie Purple Rain, the scene where Prince tells Billy in no uncertain terms to "FUCK OFF!". That's what Prince should do. nod

I think the only way he'd show up is if all the winning performers send their trophies to a post office box in Ohio.

A person with Prince's credentials/career should have alot of weight and respect in the music industry..

But this is the world music spotlight and Viacom doesn't put too many washed up/ has-beens on the MTV VMA show. And they especially wouldn't let the religious fanatic with nothing left to lose, open his mouth at the event.

When is the last time he was allowed to perform??

I think PRINCE should confirm to perform on this years show...he's apart of Pop Music History, he is an ICON!
He could use Mtv as a front to promote his NpgMusic Club and declare war on warner bro.s, by asking and explaining publicly on getting the music back!

I would so use Mtv!
Not sure how far they'd let him go with it, but Prince is a genius and everyone loves him, regardless if they think he's insane or not!

Prince come on the show and blow them away, have a protest live on MTV while your performing and promote the CLUB!

That would be so cool!

with the short attention spans of most of emptee-vee's viewers, it'd all fall on deaf ears. neutral

I don't doubt that MTV would love to have Prince on the the MTV awards as whatever but thankfully he probably wants nothing to do with them.

Seven words: Last year's show with Guns and Roses. lol Talk about the failed comeback attention that was great when they first came out but then it was like...disbelief

Not to say that Prince needs a comeback or ever really went away. He is making less commerical music so it wouldn't make sense for him to go on MTV to plug his, lets review, 4 Fourteen mintue tracks jazz funk instrumental album.

They put Eminem on the cover of RS this month, and he ain't done a damn thing lately.

But then again, he's still relevant. Never mind...

Prince should love MTV.

It seems to me that MTV is to music on television what NPGMC is to music on the internet. When I look at MTV, all I seem to see is Jackass, Punk'd, Cribs or the Osbournes. Where is the music?

When I look at NPGMC, there seems to be a lot of irrelevance and hardly any music either.
RIP sad

lol GOOD POINT lol

look, MTV is pop-cheese for a targeted demographic. That demo don't give a DAMN bout Prince any more (and probably never did). I for one wouldn't want him to be there just cause he'd show up, say some JACK-ASS thing and I'd have yet another fiasco to have to talk about with everyone I know as they "what the hell did Prince mean by ..." I'm tired of standing up for him, so I appreciate it when he stays out of the pop-culture eye.

prince needs to just stay in the studio and only make public comments via his music. when he tries to do otherwise he ends up looking, and sounding, like a moron.
