I have heard that before, and personally I think the time is near...

If that is what God has in mind for him..

You want him to "give it all up to go follow god".

Personally, no, but it appears Prince turns to God when he feels he has nowhere left to go.

Why did you pary then? "turn to God"is not the smae as "following God" and that's what most peple do when they feel they have nowhere left to go. The question he and you should ask yourselves is why he feels he has nowhere left to go.

Naturally, there will come a point in time when Prince asks himself what he still has left to do here that makes him happy.

Make music is the answer. it is all he has ever done and what he is best at. In fact it is the MUSIC what people will remember him for after he's dead. And not his "new"music but all that he created in the 80's. But if he wants to give it all up to follow Jehova then his legacy will go down the drain much faster than it ever should have.

That was the central theme of The Rainbow Children album; he was asking himself what kind of life did he lead, what had he really accomplished and where did he want to go.

on what songs do you base that interpretation?

I suspect he thinks his work here will end one day before he starts his work 'elsewhere.' It's already happening. Besides, if you were him, what would you still be hanging around here for?

(cue the music: Last December)

I would keep on making music, his God given "gift", which he now only EXPLOITS to become more and more rich and which he abuses so he doesn't have to playt his old songs anymore, which he buthcers with edits and puts down by saying that is not him. he is insulting his own legacy. he should wake up and come back to reality and keep ondoing what he does best: making music. forget about all that rainbow Children shit; that is his fantasy of controlling everything and everybody around him. he should rop that and do what he does best: making music.

Sometimes it isn't about what one wants, but about what one is called upon to do...

Byron

Not to sound too analytical...but saying "I would give it all up to go follow God" doesn't sound like a statement about what Prince plans on doing...it sounds like a simple testament to what place Prince feels God holds in his life, heart and soul...nothing more.

Not to mention that we don't know what "it" refers to...Money? Fame? Popularity? His reputation?..."It" doesn't necessarily mean creating music..."it" can be a generic term to encompass earthly/human desires and goals...

This thread seems like a little too much about not much at all...

Wellbeyond, good to see you back as Byron. Excellent analysis, as always. And yeah, pretty much all my threads have been a little too much about not much at all..

Cuz I'm a cold heartbreaker, fit to burn, and I'll rip your heart in two..and I'll leave you lyin' on the bed.

Nah, not really, that's just the W. Axl Rose in me coming out.

I dunno...maybe I'm kinda pissed off? Yeah, that's probably it. I'm also happy sometimes...that's the way it works, ya know?

Let's just say I've had some eye-opening experiences lately. Thanks for your concern - seriously.

He has professed his great love for god all along, since the first album, it is not new. I'm glad that whomever got the opportunities if they did so. I don't think he'll let his ego go enuf to get that close to god for a while, but i hope i'm wrong about that. It seems like it would be next to impossible with so many worshipers of your own around...

exactly.

Wow, I really think its sad Prince followed Larry like sheep.. why cant he just read up on other things and just get 'educated'?
I think Larry receives an unsubstantiated and unfair degree of criticism amongst many fans. Larry couldn't have influenced Prince, a grown man, to go anywhere he didn't want to. As for getting educated, it sounds like Prince is reading alot more nowadays than perhaps he's ever done before, or at least made publicly known.

I agree a 100% Prince is a grown man who makes his own decisions.

I think he made a decision to grow the hell up and that has disturbed some of his fans who, have no life and to much free time.
