Prince fans are officially divorced from reality Supernova said:
I think some Prince fans are subject to the overexposure they put themselves through. If memory serves me, in a recent Prince thread where someone asked how often do you listen to Prince the vast majority said they listen to something by Prince everyday. EVERY single day.
Admittedly, he has a large catalog, including bootlegs of outtakes and live material; but I really think most Prince fans (at least most of the ones here) need to look outside of the Purple Palace and find some equally compelling music to occupy their time and expand their horizons. It IS out there. If I listened to Prince every single day that I listened to any type of music I might be sick of him too. ANY music by any artist can be overplayed to the point of you becoming jaded by it - if you play it to the point that some here say they do. Man/Woman cannot live by Prince alone. Any thoughts?

I listen to other things too, it's just that there's almost always some P mixed in. Why make yourself listen to only crap in the name of horizons?

Whatever happens, 7/23/03 will go down in history as the day I lost the absolute last shred of respect for that hypocritical cry-baby. At the Paisley party, I was shocked at what an insecure vibe he gave off...bitch couldn't even stare down a cute young white boy (not me). It confirmed my sneaking suspicion that he's turned into the biggest follower of them all...and I'm not talking about following God. God would tell Prince to quit being such a shit-head; he would tell him that people in this world are STARVING...people are getting shot and tortured and raped every day... This is what is called 'devoid from reality.'

Prince is a bit of a thicko, I listen to him once a week tops.
I've better things to do (and listen to) these days. Strange but true.

Nice thread title, WeaselTeats. Very original. Now I see how you got your name. If you need me to come up with any other phrases for you, let me know. I'm very creative.
Actually, if the accusation were based on listening to Bowie every day or having an unhealthy obsession with the new Grandaddy album, I guess I'd be forced to 'fess up. Last time I listened to Prince, technically speaking, was for about an hour last weekend when I was shown some live stuff on video I hadn't seen before. Before that, I honestly can't remember. I don't have my copy of NEWS yet, so I can't say it's necessarily been since mid-June. Should I get a notepad and keep track of my listening habits for you? Or should I just follow your lead and start a new thread on the Org bitching people out every time my hemorrhoids give me an occasional flare-up? Talk about divorced from reality...

Moderator | Supernova is 100% correct, but I still listen to the man at least 3 times a week In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

The last Prince CD I bought was the Hits/B-Sides. I don't really know the music after Sign O' the Times. Sometimes I think he needs to reinvent his sound. Or, maybe it's just that I've outgrown his sound? I don't know. He's still the man, though.

I would expect a comment like this from my family, but from self confessed Prince fans?

That's one of the most unusual statements i've ever read on here. Why is he still the man to you if you've not bought anything of his for 10 years? just curious.

Anxiety's listening habit's don't truly concern me. but for some odd reason you still find the time to gallivant your happy creative ass here and the NPGMC (mainly) to post antipathetic remarks. Maybe if your creativity was used for more fertile reasons, I wouldn't be so interested. Do Bowie and Grandaddy receive that much of your attention also? I would love to see some of your comments about them. Maybe you aren't the adult I'm assuming you are.

A patchwork of a thread? Maybe. But since some probably aren't really taking me seriously because of my thread count, I'm going to argue my theory using a quote from a regular of the org. So, my dear Handclaps you can keep your meatloaf and save it for someone who has the ketchup for it.

Yeah, Anxiety, you can save your ketchup cuz you're a baby and he's a Weasel's tit - nyah, nyah!
Really, Anx, you should scurry back to whatever crazy baby planet you came from, now that SmellyWeaselPoop put yo' baby azz in its place. And my darling dear Handclaps, I am about at my wit's end with you. You hot-ass mofo. Hey Weasel...we're really thirsty on this thread. Wouldja mind iff'n we milked a couple o' those luscious teats o' yours? Getcho stank on, boy! No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Heh - I was really on a roll, there! Don't drink & type, kiddies!!
Or, rather, DO. It provides for fabulously cheap entertainment. And the only person I upset is Anji, who I'm guessing doesn't like me anymore. Ah, well. Keep in mind that I stand by everything I said. And what does this have to do with this thread, anyway? Heh. I called Princey a bitch. I bet it turns him on. Anji said: Written by theblueangel:

Yeah, I'm an alcoholic...didn't you know that? I can barely stop guzzling gin long enough to type lately. It's really a shame. My friends have tried to help me, but I don't want help. Didn't they ever see Nicolas Cage in Leaving Las Vegas? I JUST WANNA BE LIKE NICOLAS CAGE!!!
I AM a stud...bring that tight lil' ass o' yerz round my way and I'll show you, TittyStink. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

I AM a stud...bring that tight lil' ass o' yerz round my way and I'll show you, TittyStink. Obviously, Prince is still fucking you around so I'll have my way with you when you're ready to leave him. However, I charge more than $25 a year. [This message was edited Sun Jul 27 20:09:07 PDT 2003 by StinkyWeaselTeats]

Those shouting "foul" the loudest have an amazing grasp on a wide array of music and spend a lot of time on things that aren't Prince. ...i realize that I have used generalizations here, but hey, you start an argument with generalizations I use 'em to argue back...

I can't wrap my brain around why that would be so "unusual?" There are artists who haven't put out records in years but they have been so influential musically, that it doesn't matter. I love Prince's older stuff (In fact, I'm listening to The Hits/B-sides now!). I was a big fan in my teens and 20's. In my opinion he's still the man because he was such a part of my coming of age. He reminds me of everything wonderful about that era.

Those shouting "foul" are the first ones running back to the NPGMC causing all of the trouble and screwing me and others out of my membership that I was enjoying. If you want your opinions heard, then voice them. It is your right as an individual. But there is an effective time, place and manner which would be much more productive than running all over every Prince boards crying about how Prince is ruining his fanbase, his career, etc. Each and every poster here is an obessed Prince fan in his/her own way. My gripe is those of you who say "Look Prince did this stupid ass shit again" and you keep running back to him.

Erm, I just don't understand that. If he ain't no good in his eyes, why then can you not break away? Why you still talking about him if he means nothing to you? Bring back the likes of Vagina anyday. I'd rather hear how she intends to seduce Prince anyday.
