Which Prince singles do you hardly EVER listen?

Pick 3 and give a reason why.

For me, that would be:

- Kiss:
I dunno, I love it, but I'm sick of it, I don't know where it was coming from on Parade, quite like a splinter in a beautiful pedicured foot - it feels good to take it out, but it shouldn't have been there in the first place.

- Cream:
Horrible commercial Prince, when he turned into parody of himself, on the brink of becoming a Cher.

- Poom Poom
Utter horrid nasty wank.

Even though it was THE song that converted me from a casual listener, I could live the rest the of my life very happily w/o hearing "When Doves Cry" again.

"Let's Go Crazy". It's a good song, but I often skip it and go straight to "Take Me With U". It's the least great song on that album, IMHO.

Was "Jack U Off" a single? I've been listening to that non-stop lately... I don't know why. Someone better bring me to a movie show soon, and we can sit in the back. Etc.

I tend to ignore Let's Go Crazy & Take Me With U for some reason. I start PR at The Beautiful Ones and go from there.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Same here. Really. Not sure why either. If I want to listen to LGC, I'll listen to the full version instead.

Gett Off, Cream, Diamonds And Pearls...

All of these songs are dumbed down crowd pleasers. Before this, he was always capable of getting uniquely brilliant singles in the top ten (When Doves Cry, Pop Life, Kiss, Sign Of The Times, Alphabet Street, Thieves In The Temple, etc). Starting with the D&P hits, though, he seemed compelled to simplify his sound to ensure success (the ultimate example being TMBGITW). Such a shame...

End.

U Got The Look.

It's just so annoying. It actually sounds like a machine designed to irritate it's way into your head.

It just rattles and plods along like a broken-down vacuum-cleaner.

Don't listen to many singles at all, but the ones I consciously skip are: “You got the look” and “When doves cry”

I rarely listen to Kiss...but I love the 12" version. Go figure. I also wouldn't die if I never heard Diamonds & Pearls again either.

I will never get sick of anything from Purple Rain...I can always listen to that album without any hesistation.
Every song is killer imo.

1999...sorry. Although it seems to be the only song of his I hear when I'm out.

And U Got the Look. Sheena Easton's voice goes right through me.

Huh? Was "poom poom" released as a single?? :O

Anyway, I hardly ever listen to:

Sexy M.F. [because I never liked it, in fact I hate it,
the only nice thing about it is the "Levi...fly..." bit
and Levi's solo].

Betcha By Golly Wow [worst song on Emancipation, worst
song on probably any Prince album. I hate it even more
than Jughead or Right The Wrong. At least those were
his own sucky songs].

New Power Generation [I used to play this a lot when I was
14, but I just can't stand it anymore. It sounds old and
too dated, plus it sounds really cheesy, coming from a 30+
artist at the top of the pop-scene raking in millions].
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

"U Make My Sun Shine"
Usually I'll devour a new Prince song but this one was tucked away after a few plays & was never heard from again.

Peach: What a gawd awful mess.

Purple Rain: Sorry, everyone, but I have never even liked this song, not even in concert.

Under the Cherry Moon(not sure if this was a single): I rather sew my earholes shut than listen to this crap.

I gotta go with Take me with U and Rasberry Beret. It's lovely, yes.. but they've been ruined by too many medleys in concert.

Here we go...

Let's Go Crazy (Too Commercial/Boring)
Slow Love (Boring!)
Lovesexy (too commercial)
Lemon Crush (Crap)
New Power Generation (Eurgghh!)
Daddy Pop (Complete Shite)
The Flow (What the hell was he thinking! - although the jazz solo goes some way in redeeming the song)
Everyday is a Winding Road (artistic lowpoint)

Nearly all of them, but i still love the 12inch versions.

Anyway my pet hates are Little Red Corvette, 1999 and Purple Rain, probably cause they're always on the radio and they're always cited to me by non-fans when discussing Prince yawn
