Prince needs a new fan base

Prince is a funny little prince and to tell you the truth
I actually think Prince likes to Phuck with all his fans lol I really do and the thing is we fall for it every time. Rather I'm fanatical or not I'm gonna still be a fan and takes notes. Even iF Prince does loose alot of fans, because of this, he will gain alot more, the ones he gain will appreciate his music more then the fans he lost. So this will be a bitter sweet good bye. I think it's time for Prince 2 get a new fan base anyways, I know he tired of hearing the bitching all the times, but then again maybe that's just the point he was trying to make smile who knows ?

Just like in Graffiti Bridge!

He'll be left with a handful of loonies in tacky body paint dancing like epileptic chimps to his pseudo-relious dogma funk.

Prince will wind up as one of those "whatever happened to.." artists (which he kinda already is), and that's all. If his music was good, then he'd still have a descent fan base and new members to come. But the combination of shitty music and moronic behavior will never earn him respect.

but it does apparently, earn him the right to have only yes-men as fans, according to the topic

Sure, but that amount of yes-men won't buy him a mansion.

i don't think prince is fucking with us, or wants to trick us. nor do i think he needs a new fan base, i think he just needs all us old fans to support him in this particular cause.

it would have been better for the NPGMC to explain WHY they made the request they made WHEN they made it, but they've supplied an explanation now and it makes total sense.

imo this would be a good time for us to support him, if we can. my 2c

Years after hes dead those same loonies will be
waiting for him to rise again and lead those chimps

I don't think so much that Prince is a "strong" person rather that he's trying to see the minds of the fans.

If you are actually a fan of decent music and not a pop junky then you would know that the music he his kicking out know is more than decent. He isn't releasing catchy pop tunes or formula guitar riffs. But the band is tighter and the music is a lot more complex than he has ever been releasing. He has improved, but this new improved Prince has no place in the mainstream. If they ever do do a what happened to.. on him they will only show a man that has improved and matured with age. Maybe one day he will please the masses again. Either when the masses broaden there tastes or when he decides to dumb down a bit and get a commercial hit. I am not aiming this rant at anyone in particulor or being a snob, but I think that it's a little harsh calling his music shitty just because it doesn't fit your taste.

I don't really think it's fair to put down people just because they don't like his new material. It's common practice for many Prince fanatics to say everyone is stupid, tone deaf, narrow minded, etc. if they think Prince sucks. It's all about musical tastes.

It's like this guy I once knew. He would practice his guitar playing 8 hours every day for years. He was highly skilled and was fast as fuck. Unfortunately he was playing a type of 80's metal that was just not gonna work for this time. His music had no soul. People want more feeling in music, not just technical skills.

So even if Prince's music and band are tighter than they've ever been, if the music doesn't interest people, then what's the use outside of his own self gratification? Sure he'll always have a good amount of fans who will continue to buy his shit and support him, but at this rate he'll never be recognized by the masses again.

I agree with Wonhunglow, how when he can't even hold on to the ones he has?
He couldn't possibly expect all the fans to turn in their bootlegs. Now there are rumors of them shuting down the fan club, it's hard and sometimes painful to put up with all this stuff. Some fans have stuck by him through thick and thin.

this reminds me of what billy said in the movie purple rain:

You're fucking up kid, just like your old man did, nobody's digging your music except yourself ...

Sorry if it came across as a put down. I wasn't trying to put anyone down, i was just saying that his new music doesn't really appeal to pop fans and a mainstream audience. Suppose it did sound a bit arrogant, i don't mean to be though.

I don't think N.E.W.S. is very complex, Prince is not Steve Coleman, he got a lot of work to do if he wants to release some interesting Jazz/Funk/Fusion music.

It just gives him an excuse to his lack of success nowadays, "see, mainstream audience can't understand his music, blah, blah..."
Bullshit.
He can't even write good pop songs anymore (just listen to "Rave un2..."), the guy has lost inspiration, let's face it.
