Why Was SOTT Brazilian DVD the last straw?

Can anyone answer these questions for me?

First of all, the message from NPGMC:

"Not long ago, an unauthorized version of the concert film 'Sign O' the Times' surfaced online, Supposedly originating in Brazil and distributed by WEA International, this DVD is not something that was approved by Prince or any of his affiliates. ... We all know that Prince is one of the most bootlegged artists of his generation, and while much of the activity is tolerated, it crosses the line when Prince's [former] record company ... gets in the mix. The [reason for this request is] to show a federal court the actual truth of this age-old rift between artist and label."

OK, question time:

When Prince made this movie, he never done it through Warners (Was the company MCA?).
How did they get involved in the distribution of this?
How did they get the rights to distribute it?
Why didn't they put their logo on it?
If it's such a problem, why is it still on sale?
Why isn't this DVD on Prince's long list as one of the items to send back?
Why wasn't this mentioned in the original e-mail, or even just a better clarification as to what was going on?
I cannot find anywhere on the net that Warner, WEA, etc have anything to do with this release. So what I can't understand is, it wasn't made through Warners, and im supposing that if it was distributed on DVD through Warners they'd state so, and if it's got nothing to do with them, why is this release the basis of fams sending back their music that was recorded whilst he was signed to that label.

If this was the problem, why doesn't Prince just ask for the Brizillian SOTT DVD?

Can anyone clarify this for me? Or am I missing something here?

I think it's great. The only item I have on that list is the Scandolous sex suite 9 trk with the Party man tracks (a fantastic CD) but Prince is right. Most of the CDs Warner brought out after their first release could of been brought out in better quality (ie, remastered).

It's Prince music so he should have control over how it is packaged and played! I honestly belive he wants to satisfy our needs for his music, he just wants to do it a different way to Warner.

Because they know the first email was laughable and they didn't have a leg to stand on re: the official back to back singles, so they tried to tag this DVD on the end to make their "cause" look more justifiable.

The DVD isn't an official release, I didn't even think it had anything to do with WB.

That's what i thought, that's why im asking these questions.
So, if that holds water (that they have no involvement in the Brazillian DVD), does that mean they can counter claim Prince for him saying that?
