Even if this WAS about some no-win lawsuit by Prince, why does he need all copies of this stuff?

Clearly there is existence of these items as they are catalog numbers...do you thik the judge would dismiss the case because he doesn't see the proof that these items exist?

and the bootleg request was a real longshot. Who is he going to have a case against? the labels? even so I think the same logic applies. you dont have to have 1000's of cds to prove they exist.

I think Prince is being really petty here.

I always thought one of the main reasons his music suffered in the late 90s was because he was too concerned with the business side of things - all the WB/Slave/Contract kerfuffle.

I think music acts often benefit from having management to take care of some of the paper shuffling, letting the artist concentrate on the music.
