With all his mood swings, I am wondering if there aren't deeper subjects to ponder. Maybe Prince suffers from manic depression and will not get help. Thought to think on.

I think that this would show up more in his songs if he were depressed.

Boredom shows up more often.

Often, 2freaky, we call others mad 'cos their point of view is different from our own. I've done it myself. However, if we are to view them as 'sane', that means we must consider ourselves 'mad'. This is a risk that only a few of us seem to be brave enough to take.

During the Oprah interview in 1996 Prince mentioned having Multiple Personality Disorder.Sprinkle in a little eposodic depression and you get confusion .Bi-polar syndrome is something I would not rule out .

We're getting a bit personal now, but I personally think the whole JW thing is a reaction to his child dying and his first marriage break-up.

He's always been a religious nut, but it seems he might have used religion as a crux for the sad events of his personal life circa 96-99.

I know this is all extremely personal, and non of our business, but that's my opinion.

Prince suffers from some serious religious diarrhea..

Maybe. It seems to me that JW religion and Larry Graham's fathe-like figure gave Prince a false sense of hope after the death of his son and failure of his first marriage. Has Larry released any new music since he himself converted? JW is a very restrictive religion. It seems to me that when Prince ran away from his parents, he also escaped the restrictiveness of the Seventh Day Adventists. Today, he is back "home". He is censoring his creativity. This is just so sad. I think it is in his nature to be a very sexy person. It is my belief that sexual energy is the source of creativity. Restrict that aspect of a artistic person, and you've got one dried-up bore.

Its my hope that when the money starts to dry up as it is now.. Prince will swirl into a panic and just like everything else in his life.. he will come back to the sexual energy as the source of creativity. But not until he hits a major financial barrier. Prince depressed? Possibly.

Whether you like everything he's put out, or only certain periods of work, you've gotta admit that there's a lot of creativity buzzing around in his head.

Now, though nobody had ever been able to find the connection, it's been clinically proven that people with mental disorders tend to be highly creative, artistic people.

It's also been estimated that the music industry has a 40% percent higher incidence of mental illness than the general population does.

Judging from his public behaviour, it would be safe to say that Prince is possibly depressive or bipolar. Not 100%, obviously, but it doesn't seem unlikely.

Last year in Psychology class, somebody asked our teacher who, out of all the famous people he could analyse if given the chance, (meaning a proper psych. analysis spanning over a period of time) who would it be? Of course, the student asking the question expected him to answer Eminem, J.Lo, Britney Spears, or some other "hot" star-of-the-moment.

But he said Prince.

Surprised, the student asked why.

His answer was that even though he's not a fan, he's always thought Prince was a talented, creative person, but "obviously doesn't have his head screwed on straight" and that he would love to find out why that is, whether it's from some kind of disorder, or from a traumatic event or from something else altogether.

Don't be putting Prince in the same box with Elvis Presley, Kurt Cobain or even Micheal Jackson, who we all know has problems. The more upbeat music that Prince is doing for other artists show that he's probably playing off a persona.
