LISTEN to the genius of Prince...

...closely on the title cut of the One Nite Alone piano CD. The piano solo is virtuosic and stunning every time I listen. I wonder if "fams" slow down and take time to truly appreciate moments like these. Prince releases so much so frequently that I am sure some these aural gems are missed in the rush.

As I have always listened to his work in a purposely unfettered state when possible, I know that I have tried to savor all of the nuiances. The amazing range of his technical skills (as heard in the aforementioned piece) is only surpassed by the breadth and depth of his more serious compositions and lyrics (which, on One Nite Alone, are among his best).

Of course, that is just my opinion...

I like it too. Sometimes you need a Prince Cd for those light days. Wow, that sounded like a maxi-pad commercial...

You know, I never understood what people hated so much about the ONA album...

My review:
Young and Beautiful makes me vomit. In addition to this, the songs all sound so similar, I find it gets boring quickly.

However, when I listen to a single song, or throw it on random with 4 other CDs, I can really appreciate the simplistic beauty that seems to come out of this CD.

The One Nite Alone piano cd is a joy from the stunning opener all the way through to the end.
DEFINATELY best appreciated with a set of headphones, and turned up LOUD to hear the tape-crackles,resonance of the piano, and his voice.
Oh, and those heels walking out at then end...TOO COOL!

Prince's music is to complex to try and digest it at one listening session. It takes days, weeks, months & sometimes years to truly enjoy.

ONA was one such album for me.

Excellent.

I agree, after listening to this the fist time, I wasn't that impressed. Then after awhile I listened to it a few more time and I really like it.

As usual, when he played some of this live from the tour, I liked it even more. I think that HERE ON EARTH is a really beautiful tune.

Was the song BREATH ever put out or was it just on a NPG-music club compilation???
