It's a little metaphorical. "A world overrun by tourists with 89 flowers on their backs." Picture Americans in their Hawaiian-print shirts, taking pictures of everything but not really living anything. They're looking at life from a very limited perspective ("through a pocket camera") and passing the same freedom-limiting perspective on to their children. ("They're all a buncha double-drags who teach the kids that love is bad.")

Isn't it obvious why Prince don't like no tourists?
They're all a buncha double-drags, who teach their kids that love is bad. Half of the staff of their brains is on vacation! (Momma, are ya listenin'?) FunkMistress has the right idea. 
And yeah, tourists are annoying. What I find more annoying is BEING a tourist. Ugh. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.
Sex is not love. Love is not sex. Putting words in other people's mouths will only get you elected. Need more sleep than coke or methamphetamine. | |

For the longest time, i thought the lyrics were "This one's 4 Yosemite Sam (uncle sam ie.America) and the tours that didn't land(ie tours of duty that went wrong)" Fuckem' ALL. Wasn't that his message? Makes sense to me!!!  Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind. | |

I suggest walking up to any tourist and asking them to use their accujack. They may try to walk away from you, but they are actually leading you to a place that they keep their accujack stash, so stick with them like glue. I've found it is very helpful to keep talking to them in hurried tones about how happy you are to be using the accujack and how excited you were to find them. Keep this up along the entire walk.
