Prince's Best Band I like to know which band you think was the best?
The early line up the Dirty Mind- 1999 period was full over great creative people. I heard many stories of P not giving them credit for songs they wrote. Dez,Andre Cymone etc.were great. He lost something in my opinion when he let the original players get away.

In terms of versatility it would be The NPG-1992
the best though would be The Revolution

The Revolution (right before they broke up), but Sheila, Boni, and Cat added that extra "umph" that was missing.

Like Eric Leeds said, that whole era and tour was "too rehearsed" and not spontaneous at as the SOTT era was. I acutually liked Wally and Greg (although I don't really know why? )

I just get a high blood pressure whenever I see Gregg Wally lol I tell ya, these niggas get on my last nerve in a way it ain't even funny. Why the hell did Prince include them in the band? WHY WHY WHHHYYY? LOL

I agree. That was the best band. Only I liked them better with Lisa than I did with Gayle Chapman. The early line up the Dirty Mind- 1999 period was full over great creative people. I heard many stories of P not giving them credit for songs they wrote. Dez,Andre Cymone etc.were great. He lost something in my opinion when he let the original players get away.

The Sign O' The Times era band followed closely by the Revolution circa Parade. However, the jury's still out on the current group so it all can change.

Either Sign/Lovesexy or the current NPG for ability to stretch themselves and try new pieces/experiment.
The fonkiest was probably the '95 NPG but the overall performance left something to be desired with all the loops/backing vocals. Jazz chops would again be Sign/Lovesexy or current NPG.

i'll answer the question this way.
his best band was the SOOT band-lovesexy band. (i'll ignore wally, brooks 7 company) my fave band as far as raw & coolness was the dirty mind one. (lisa, fink, dez, and andre) they were da shit! there's nothing wrong with the current group-they just ain't been with him long enough to qualify..to this original prince fan! (individually they're all GREAT. but that's not the question you asked! charles

Never really fell in love with any of the NPGs but do love all the eigties groups. I think I would have to go with the Revolution.
