What was Prince's earliest official CD Single?

was it Alphabet St?

I know you can get earlier recordings like the German pressings Kiss, Erotic City, I would Die 4 U etc but i don't think these were approved by Prince.

nothing off SOTT made it to CD single did it?

To my best knowledge 'Alphabet St.' was indeed the first single available on CD. (in Europe and Japan).

'If I Was Your Girlfriend' was the first PROMO CD-single.

Sanctioned or not by Prince, the 'I Would Die 4 U' / 'Little Red Corvette' (etc.) CD's were first released in 1989, so in any case AFTER 'Alphabet St.'.

cheers & regards,

Not too much. Check on eBay.
I think 'Alphabet St.' goes for around 15 dollars, 'Glam Slam' and 'I Wish U Heaven' for a little less than that.

Those would be the European (German or UK) versions.
The Japanese versions (in unsnapped 'snappacks') would be worth more (in mint condition). I'd say from 25 till 40 dollars each. 'Alphabet St.' being the hardest to track down, so that one perhaps a bit more than that.

As well as eBay, you'll find examples for sale at www.madhousemusic.co.uk and items sometimes appear on www.eil.com

From the way you ask the question, if you own them already, then only you know how much they are worth to you.

To get some sort of guide on prices, you can wander into a large outlet of WH Smith and check their copy of the latest 'Rare Record Guide'. However, you should be aware that these are mid-price estimates for mint condition product and dealers will normally demand more than the value quoted (and pay less than that quoted).
