Rock N' Roll Is Alive(And Its Living In MPLS)--Was It A Diss 2 Lenny Kravits?

Since it came after Lenny's 95 jam "Rock N' Roll Is Dead" was it a diss aimed at Lenny?

Just a friendly reply, I'm thinking.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Kind of. But in a good way.

Prince did say onstage at Paisley that it was intended as a riposte to Kravitz, who recorded a song called 'Rock N' Roll Is Dead'. "Kiss my ass Lenny, you're my homie but, damn, rock n' roll is alive!".

Closer inspection of the lyrics actually reveals 'Rock N' Roll Is A live (And It Lives In Minneapolis)' to be a caustic dig at Elvis Presley, a "king" who was found "butt-naked on the floor".

.

lenny's tune was alright. but i think he meant it tongue
in cheek. still prince's track is funny. video has
some fat elvis looking dude in it...that was mean-spirited
but still made me crack up.

i'm sure lenny took it good naturedly.

omfg Did we just create two different threads about the same obscure song at the same time without knowing it?!

Oh, I see now that you were a couple of hours before me. That´s still insane! I had no idea you´d just created a thread about that song! What a coincidence. (and silly of me not to check the other threads first)

'Face Down' is just the second song to contain another reference to Elvis.
