"All Day/All Night", or "For Love"? What's the big deal about Jill Jones' "All Day All Night"? I've seen Prince cover it several times, and to be honest, it's a bland song at best (YES, IN MY OPINION, BEFORE YOU CUT MY BALLS OFF!)
I got her record when it came out, and again, IN MY OPINION, "For Love" is a MUCH better jam - lyrics, groove, etc. lyrics, (for thems of you that didn't get it) "For Love I would suffer kisses from another if that was what turned you on For love I have done less, and still felt the best when I'm with you nothing is wrong I would tie you with a chain if that would put you in the frame of mind, I think so too. I want you so badly, don't you know I'd gladly give my life for loving you" Do Most anything for love... -- whereas, All Day All Night ... I just didn't get that one - it sounded MUCH more like a throwaway song. So I'm curious, what's your thoughts on these two? The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

My point exactly, sorta. Why do you think he's covered (or, uhh, performed, since it's HIS song...) All Day All Night? The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Oh I much prefer All Day..I think the vocals and instrumentation are much better on this one,the only part of For Love that I really love is the sax solo. I DON'T WANT TO BE NORMAL,because normal is part of the status quo, which I don't want to be a part of- Tori Amos

Both are Average at Best to Me I think "Violet Blue" Whips both of them in a Breeze.but of the two "For Love" because "All Day/All Night" has that Vamp that He wore out during 83-84 on better Songs IMHO.it would work better Live as a Jam than a Album track IMHO. mistermaxxx

For Love is the JAM!
And people say the Revolution (W&L) weren't funky! But, All Day, All Night is such a sexually charged song. Jill's delivery of the lyrics and her screams and yelps added to the pulsing music - it's quite an erotic kaboodle. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm a sucker for a major chord

Oh please! All Day All Night... Hands down.
It's the kind of song you play when you're doing 100 mph on the freeway.

All Day, All Night is a hot track, in fact it's one of my favorite Prince boots. "You need people like me so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." "

At the time, "For love" was the jam. But listening to it recently it hasn't aged that well. Just sounds a little dated now. Violet Blue is my current favorite of her stuff.

"Mia Bocca" has one of the best opening lines ever :
"I have only had one lover since I was 12 years old" and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

That's easy between these two:
For Love - on the album All night, all day - when played live But Violet Blue tops both
