in the song Insatiable the line "I got a jones. Martha" confuses me and a friend. I did some quick dirty research and found out the following:

Martha

Therefore "I got a jones. Martha" should mean something like a bitter addiction or what not.

Maybe it's because Martha sounds better then any other name. Let's try "I gotta jones Betty". Hmmm, doesn't really sound too good. Or how about "I gotta jones Denise". That doesn't sound very good either. "I gotta jones Lorraine".

It's simple. Martha flows better then any other name he could think of. Of course it's just a theory.

Morris liked to use the name "Grace" or "Stella", Prince used "Martha", doubt it had any special biblical meaning. In the context of the actual song,

I got a jones, Martha

I can't have a hug (unless)
unless I have a kiss

it seems fairly straightforward, he's got an addiction, he can't have a hug unless he also gets a kiss. But who knows, that whole Christ, Petrine, Johannine thing you've got going might be right on point. But I doubt it.
