Does THE TIME still belong to Prince?

Ptince probably still owns the name, THE TIME. THis is why they made it Morris DAy and The Time after they left Prince.

Prince owns those songs so I guess he gets his royalties from them performing them and when they did the movie soundtrack

I think they use M.D. and The Time to get better name recognition. Prince doesn't seem to be on bad terms with them I doubt he'd object to them using the name.

Pandemonium is a great album. The thing I'd change if I were MD and the Time was the show. It is basically the same show they've been doing for 20 years. UPDATE IT.

No wonder Morris keeps yelling WHAT TIME IS IT? It is because they still think it is the 1980s.
The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

you better believe he does. part of the reason why ppl give songs to other ppl is so they can get royalties from live performances. it's called song exploitation. The Time have been bank rolling Prince ever since they decided to reform in the 90s.

Hmmm, that's interesting. So anytime an artist sings another artist's song in concert, the original songwriter gets paid? I never knew that.If Prince sings "A Case Of You" at one of his shows,Joni Mitchell gets royalties?

yup. but the money goes to whoever owns the publishing of that song. for example, george clinton doesn't own a lot of his publising cuz the damn fool signed it away while he was on crack.

LMMFAO. evillol
I saw them a couple of years ago, and I have to concur. It was pretty sad to see Morris looking all bloated, still yelling for Jerome to bring him his mirror.

The Time might still belong to prince. knowing him he would
figure a way to get a steady cash flow from morris and company.

personally speaking,i don't mind The Time still existing
(seriously,it keeps morris from being inactive...it pays
the bills so to speak.

what i do mind is them NOt doing new material with their
Old stuff.

yes i miss jesse and jam & lewis in the group...they were
the major reason i dug the act to begin with.
their replacements play decnt enough-but the persoanlities
ain't there. morris is much bigger but i can deal with that.

(part of aging is getting heavier, for most folk)

if U think about it-prince is the only guy who has kept
his weight off (as he got into his 40's)

check that some of the minny boys still are in decent shape:
jellybean and monte don't look too much different.
terry looks the same. as does jerome.

jimmy jam is a BIG dude. has anybody seen Fink?
andre? bobby z?

jesse was a heavier guy the last time i saw him...but it
didn't matter to me-the BOY still looked cool to me!

the girls? wendy...hmm...i like her more circa 1990
sheila? still HOT looking. she gets better with age...like
fine wine!

lisa is thinner (i liked her with more meat on her bones)

but back to the TIME. i want to hear new stuff by them.
(i agree with handclaps & l-bizarre...don't make the new
material like PANDemonium!)

i got a question.
do U think Morris will ever quit doing the TIme gig?

fink, bobby, and brownmark looked a lil bigger in the pics I saw of them a while back. Lisa I thought was getting very heavy in the PARADE days so it's weird you say she is skinny although I haven't seen any pics of her lately... As far as the Time and Morris, he left once and came back probably for the dough dough...they only reason I think he would leave is because the band might split up.

i could see brownmark heavier. as for lisa...you're right
about her being heavier around the PARade days...but (she still wasn't bad looking...i wouldn't throw her out of my
bed for being not being a size 6! (haha) but seriously the
last time i saw her...in a video (was it for a movie) and in
my 1990 w & lisa video tapes-she took the weight off...she
looks sort of sickly...again she still is nice looking just
looks like she went to far on the other side...

as for morris...i suppose as long as people go see them he'll do the TIME gig. the shame of it is-what gets lost in
the shuffle is he's a musician. first and foremost.

a drummer who would have been the TIME drummer if prince and
alexander o' neal could have gotten along.
(he's the drummer on clorren bacon skin (quite funky) and
the NEW POwer generation tune from Gb...and i think he
did some drumming on the COLOR OF SUCCESS lp.

if i were him -i'd do his own thing again.
(what will jerome do-if morris leaves?)
